yesterday was international childhood cancer day. No mention of it at all in the media because of our selfish leaders who only think about themeselves and their selfish gains. I was hoping the media would give them a black out and focus on the many vulnerable children who are dying from treatable forms of cancers due to lack of access to treatment and medical care in our institutions.

Lets give the politicians a black out and focus on real issues affecting a huge percentage of the ordinary kenyans.

Each year more than 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer, and about 90,000 die of the disease.
With prompt and effective treatment, most childhood cancers can be cured. In developed countries, the
survival rate is nearly 80%. But in developing countries, where 80% of children with cancer live, access to early diagnosis, access to information and effective care are not yet available, and the survival rate drops to 20% or even 10%.
