True that. DRC, UG, Cameroon, Congo Brazzaville...... very green. It bewilders me that DRC fellows can actually sleep hungry. Other than the blatant western interference, the residents are real goats!

Why do we have the African Union? And doesn't it have an economic arm? I tried asking about Coltan from Rwanda/Congo and was told 'Iko na wenyewe!'

It would be unfair to blame AU. It has tried where it could. It's not too large, neither too powerful or monied to take on the western thugs in Congo. but China is taking the bull by the horns. It has the muscle.

Kenya needs to be by China here and "colonize" these people not necessarily the mzungu way but the new way, when China wins the big contracts Kenyan companies should be there bidding for the smaller ones. We shouldn't just criticize but capitalize the same way we did in SS

Not really 'blame', but shouldn't we atleast have a semblance of a body that trys? Noise making has a way of making things happen, even though slowly. AU should be making some constant noise, ama?

This country should be divided into three countries, shed a bit of land to Rwanda and Burundi. The natural resources they have should be used to develop whole of Africa. What is the point of Africa producing expensive electricity whereas river Congo can manage to light up whole of Africa? Congo will remain hungry/poor until someone bold enough decides to act.

The Grand Inga project (40,000 MW) is what you are talking about - Provide cheap elec aross Africa. South Africa has already signed an agreement to purchase elec. A line will be built.

It's in the interest of Congo Mafia and corporations in developed world who benefit from smuggling for DRC and central Africa generally to stay in turmoil. It will take a Mugabe & gaddafi rolled into one to undo the mess

This "curse" narrative is a Western propaganda to mystify their corporate agenda a smokescreen.

As long as the gods are Western European and Anglo American corporations then this "wealth curse" will persist, did someone mention the UN? That angel of death as used by the "gods" they took out Patrice Lumumba. This "angel" and others like NATO continue to snatch all the brave sons of Africa. Lumumba and Gaddafi had the audacity and means of revolutionaries that we need as a continent.

And let it be a lesson to us all in Africa, if you want to take on the West and its interests, either arrange the situation so that it is in their interest to leave you alone and/or have a big stick to protect yourself. And powerful friends to back you. And do not piss off your citizens too much. Otherwise you end up like Sankara, Lumumba, and Gaddafi. This is why North Korea will never give up nukes, and Iran is looking for them.
