Is it morally right for a public utility which has a monopoly and levies some of the most outrageous charges to citizens to make such profit, and go ahead and publicly take pride in announcing them?

Don’t know about the moral bit but its fundamentally superb. It should be trading at a price of 20 in the short term and if it replicates the performance year on year 30 is well within the horizon. Recoup some if not all of your annual electricity bill through the aforementioned capital gains and some measly dividend to boot by investing at current price.

At today's price of KES.16.95 and with a Forward EPS of 4.28, the stock is trading at a forward PER of 3.96

The metrics of this share are purely ridiculous on every count: p/e is way below sector average-using kengen's p/e the potential capital gains are even tastier, NAV is around 26 and projected fy2014 NAV should get us about 37 based on current H1 results, y/y profit growth in recent times is mind boggling though expected due to doubling of its connected customers accounts, respectable ROE and ROA considering its a utility firm, swapping of expensive debt for cheaper ones, measly dividends are to be expected given the capital expenditure in the pipeline. All in all absurd price discount by Mr. Market govt control notwithstanding.
