@Ash, I'm not so sure about that....... it could prove to be very 'pricey' advice.
Could be a faulty sensor, could be something more serious. The only way to know is to have it checked.
You will find many car manuals state
"Please be aware that, in any event, if the airbag light is ON the airbags are disabled, and will NOT function in the event of a crash." When the airbag light is on because of one sensor, the others will deploy. The manuals were written by lawyers.
The yellow connectors under the front seats is a very well known culprit. Even I had it, due to car washers banging around there when cleaning the interior or constantly moving the chairs back and forth.
The safest way is to use the VAG software with the proper usb cable. That will show the exact sensor which failed.
