Show me an activist and I will show you maathai. Real activists are not on payroll, they freely fight for justice not publicity. They don't chase the media, media chases them. They don't use the weak to fight the strong, they offer themselves as sacrificial lambs.
And She won a nobel.

Today's digital activists are opportunists. Noisy and destructive. They don't ignite anything.
Just serious catalysts in search of fame for causes they claim to own.
Ok ,Boniface is Kenya's modern day mandela. What a man,What a hero!

A nobel awaits him.kudos, yaaaaaawn

So how did Maathai get money and support?

not surprisingly, she has no clue what she is talking about.

So so true, anybody who really knows Maathai should she would have stood with those children and even joined them!!!!

Did you feel indignation when the moms were mistreated in Freedom Corner?

Of cause I did, today we can see some of the fruits of what they fought for!

She was called "a mad woman" who was "a threat to the order and security of the country" by the president - then she went on to win a Nobel Prize.

Perhaps Boniface will win a Nobel Prize too someday and all will want to associate with him then.

Yes I was referring specifically to you among others !
As to why I was not there. Believe me if I was anywhere near Nairobi I might have been there. In my heyday I participated in my fair share of pro-democracy protests.

And yes, Kenyans will not blindly follow whatever other countries do. But we must learn from the positive and negative experiences of other countries.

Perhaps it will take this important action by primary school students to make Kenyans wake up, and stop being tribal sycophants and say enough is enough with corruption and land grabbing. people will say "If primary school students have enough conviction to fight land grabbing then why am I still a tribal sycophant?"

This is similar to what happened in the Soweto student uprising. Thousands were inspired by the action of the students.

Ni hayo tu

It seems to some, as long as the grabber is from my tribe, then its ok.

If Boniface had the wrong name, we would have heard akina murchr and team talking about some old mzee somewhere "causing anxiety"

Land Grabbers are land grabbers and are the most evil form of a human being.

You are so right, infact some of his success can be directly attributed to his name, I don't want to imagine what Moses Kuria would have been posting now had his name been Odede!!!!

I was disappointed by police response until I watched the clips. Who said a missile thrown by 12 yrs old can't harm the officers. Parents and school adm to blame. Involvement of kids is a big No. Police are humans as well.

Seconded!
