A law is meant to be a deterrent!

Exactly, not a cash collection machine, otherwise we would be better off including collection targets for the cops in the constitution. smile

Can this be applied to traffic police who go ahead and disrupt traffic flows which otherwise would work better than their hand coordination ?

Mmmmmhhhh, not very sure that is a good idea!!!

This is extremely stupid!!!

You should make it easy for people to pay fines not harder. We should even be using technology to pay fines. You commit an offence and you are a given a "ticket" complete with a serial number or some other unique identifier. If you accept the charges, you simply pay by MPesa (or any other means) within two weeks otherwise you attend your court case. That would even reduce corruption.

Everyday in Kenya, a new way to enrich law enforcers comes up, poor us the meek citizens.

I like this Nkaiserry guy. He has balls, which is exactly what you need in such a docket. I hope he keeps up the momentum.

Me too.

I also find it interesting that we all seem to be paying attention and listening to him. He is commanding respect.

A day after orders on the "Kingora"....they have drastically reduced. Previously I would be harassed by 3 of 4 in a day. Have not seen any since yesterday.

I wish him well and all of us a more secure Kenya.

Its one of the most weird things I have ever heard. I will only raise the level of bribes, nothing much would be achieved by that.

Police will laughing all the way to the nearest Equity Bank.

A policeman will get you in a parked car and accuse you of over speeding!!! Ukibishana, anakuambia utaenda kusema mbele. Only that mbele ni Mandera. You calculate the transport, wasted time (most expensive component), accommodation etc., and you just decide to part with a kathao "hio maneno iishe". Woe unto you if you go there and the file is "missing" and you are given another court date - the next week!!!

On the brighter side, Mandera, here comes economic growth. "Criminal" tourism here we come...

With our Kenyan system, it is more of venting than vetting.
