When Obama won the historic election in the US and everyone was excited and awed by the man, Dick Cheny was the only whohad balls to describe Obama as the bigest deception in human history. One year down the line, has this come to pas?Picture this;

1.Healhtcare reform not attracting as much support as it was one year ago
2.The latest elections for senator showed a huge shift in popularity in favour of republicans
3.His International, multiracial popularity has somewhat dissipated
4.The war in Afghanistan is getting messier and forcing him to adopt hawkish approach not different from his predecessor
5.From events in recent weeks, his adminstration appears to be preparing for a major confrontation with China on issues from Internet censorship, trade, Dalai Lama, arms sale to Taiwan, therefore removing the pacifist tag from him
6.Muslim Western relations appeared to improve following his Cairo speach but have since hot a low
7.No developments towards peace in the middle east, with Isreal seemingly defying Obama
8.Here at home, a sad realisation that the man may not change the political situation significantly

KIBAKI remains the greatest!
2002. We voted.
Remember Uhuru Park in 2003
And pray, do REMEMBER exactly what that felt like.
2007. We voted.
Remember Uhuru Park in 2008
And pray, do REMEMBER exactly what that felt like.
2012. ????????
A BIG question mark for what lies there.
We have no idea where our 'leaders' will have us.
Then tell me why...
You cross oceans...
When the greatest deception...
Touching your life and mine...
Is at home with you.
It pains me...
To REMEMBER...

Another thing...
It is hopeless...
To expect Obama...
Or any other person but your own President...
To turn around things...
In Kenya!

drastic calling him a deception...

Only 2-3 challenges out of the 8 you have mentioned are really of substance and matter to him. He will overcome some to varying degrees of success in the fullness of time. Nobody told him his presidency will be devoid of challenges.

Every time a thread like this starts, the words to Michael Joseph Jackson's hit "Man in The Mirror" jump into my mind.

If you wanna make the world
A better place
Take a look at yourself

Obama couldnt be a deception.

Most of the time the general public have some unrealistic expectations.

Obama is quite on course to deliver on the issues he campained on.

He is more diplomatic in dealing with other nations.

The economy in US has improved since he took over.

Heaalth care reform is on course albeit a few challenges.

All else not with standing, he is not to stand and do nothing when a situation calls for action, e.g increasing troops in Afghanstan or
telling China the plain truth about censorship.
Obama is on course.
And by the way NSE is up.
If the economy in the US was still in the thick, NSE would still be in acute diarrhoea

No great advance has been made in history without controversy. Leaders change things - Obama should learn from the greatest and do much more (no need to pay controversy too much attention).

Abraham Lincoln:
As president he is best remembered for leading the Union through the Civil War and freeing Confederate slaves with the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation; for delivering the Gettysburg Address

Theodore Roosevelt:
Built up the Navy, created independent Panama and building of Panama Canal, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905 for helping end the Russo-Japanese War, designated dozens of national forests and strengthened the executive branch. His policy pronouncement, "Speak softly and carry a big stick."

George Washington:
He refused to be affiliated with any party. He proclaimed a policy of neutrality in the war between Britain and France. He declined to serve a third term (thereby setting a 144-year precedent) and in retiring deliverd his "Farewell Address."

Truth is, the weight of expectations on him puts him in a tough spot. He is unlikely to really hit the mark with people, because based on the expectations, he's fighting a losing battle.

@ gathinga. Obama became the president at probably the worst time anybody would have taken the office probably more worse for a black man. he is trying to achieve what he set out to but as usual he is being prevented from doing it by the Machiavellian nature of politics. so pray which of the points u mention is he not trying to achieve as he promised?

@Muganda & Anasazi you are spot on. Its unlikely that Mr. Obama will meet these challenges to the expectation of his supporters. The most glaring are; The war in Afghanistan, Healthcare reform, The Economy and Middle East peace expectations.

@Intelli, Obama and his Handlers willfully misled the voters to believe that all that was needed to clean up the messes was a new broom (read him). Of course they swallowed hook and sinker. He pretended that he could bring peace to the middle East with only words.....whats a lie. He sugested, quite wrongly that he could come up with a timetable for troop withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan; Instead he has ordered a surge in the latter. On healthcare, he made it look like a foregone promise once he gets to office. Whats is now in the offing as a result of the haggling in the house and the senate is a significantly diluted version of the reform he promised at the campeigns

In his address to Muslims in Cairo, he signalled a change of US attitude towards the Muslim regimes. what we are now seeing is partisan support for the opposition in Iran, intended to topple an unfriendly regime. This has nothing to do with democracy for if it had, Obama should have served the same to the regimes in Egypt and Riyadh, which are much more oppresive than even Iran.

These are but a few examples of Obama willfully deceiving people whereas his intentions are diametically opposite to his pronouncements

@Gathinga

But you mislead us mate.

Could you quote Obama saying any of the things you attribute to him - I mean saying those things in the manner you want to depict him as.
Obama only offered to approach things differently from the way they were being done then, and he always explained how. In the US you dont just say I will do this I will do that, you are put to task to give the road map.

Obama promised to withdral troops from Iraq. He promised to intensify the fight against the terrirists holed up in Afghanistan. He is on couse to achieving both.

Healthcare needs to pass through congress and senate. Obama has no control over the composition of any of the two, but he is doing his bit to get it sail through.

He always prepared his audience for the tough job ahead, but gave them hope that it could be done - Yes we can.
At no time did he tell anybody that things were gonna come on a silver platter.

The only one attempting deception here is actualy ...mmm... you.

The Middle East issue (Israel) is best left alone. I was recently schooled on the intricacies of the whole matter and the known but unsaid conclusion is that, there will be no Palestine in our lifetime. The district of Samaria (west bank)is inch by inch reverting to Israeli

Before he ran for office.. Thay said NO HE CAN'T....
I personally believe things will improve before his Re-election, which he already planned for even before he won the first term...

Watch that space...
