For once, I think the opposition has some very valid points.
Even wanting to dictate who/when the head of police or NIS comes and goes is a problem because that should be left to an independent body.

Its not about Uhuru, but potential future dictators.

Some people don't get that; Moreover in my opinion, its only less than 20% of the proposed amendments that needs to be relooked at the remaining 80% are great laws

I totally agree with you, the Bill should be amended and not withdrawn in its totality as recommended by CORD. How will discussions between Government and CORD solve security issues, hiyo ni upuzi mtupuu.....

@Alma....I think I've lost count of the number of times you've threatened to leave Wazua?

@TAZ when you were in diapers I was being clobbered by the Moi sycophants. By the time you were in primary school, I knew what it meant to be targeted.

I take laws and retrogressive ones very seriously. Ask yourself why there are so many Kikuyus and Luos in the diaspora....And think very hard about the answer because it was not because Kenya was peaceful under Kanu rule unlike other african countries.

Ni hayo tu.

Is there a section in the current bill that allows for indefinite detention without a trial with no option for release on bail?

IMHO...Cord is retarded. Wired to oppose EVERYTHING. How hard is it to itemize, discuss and agree. Everything is politisized.

There's this guy sitting next to me kwa pub and he's been pushing me to comment on govt's fight against insecurity. He could be an nsis guy and thus I've decided not to respond and shifted the debate to "fish" coz I don't want to end up at nyati hse basement. That proposed security law is bad, very very bad.

Are you taking FAXE?

Anyway, I like the changes recommended at the committee stage today. I believe the bill to be tabled tomorrow will quite different from what we have seen.

Btw, that bill is sailing through kesho.

I was encouraged when I saw that the responsible committee members, from across the political divide, met and seemed to agree on the amendments. That is what they are paid to do: To sit down like grown ups and consider all opinions presented to them and come up with a common stand. So today we might get a new Interior CS and some better laws to deal with insecurity thing.

Someone must caution the administration though that having laws is one thing and using them appropriately to prevent crimes is a totally different story.

I also hope that going forward NIS will not be feeding us with that "We-gave-intelligence-that-was-not-acted-upon" BS.

Washiku, I always admire your positive nature but I would caution you that politicians don't care about you.

Cord would love this bill to pass as is. There is no bigger narrative that a gov't taking away the rights of people. Hakuna.

As you can see from the comments all over social media, those that support this bill seem to have voted for the current gov't to a man. Cord would love that to go on.

So don't be blinded by Cords crocodile tears about wishing to make amendments. They don't.

Also note that there are some leaders right now in Jubilee who were insulting Moi for the same or similar laws.

I've borrowed this from somewhere as an illustration

Quote:
Juja MP Stephen Ndicho said the President's order that police stop opposition political rallies was infringing on Kenyans rights to freedom of association and assembly saying the opposition will defy the order

Ask him what he's saying now.

Power corrupts and people in power are stupid enough to make laws thinking they will be in power forever.

This article in the Nation is quite alarming

http://www.nation.co.ke/news/politics/Jubilee-and-Cord-headed-for-clash-on-security-law/-/1064/2560610/-/39t7m5/-/index.html

Why?

Because somehow these politicans are still creating laws that talk about

“insulting, threatening or inciting material"

Everyone on this forum has felt insulted at one time or another. We have also felt threatened at one time or another.

I remember personally a time when some fellows had started the habit of naming my name on wazua led by wazua admin. I was actually waiting for my ID to be released.

So now, that's a loophole to silence any voices of descent.

I will say that I'm happy that the media is dying. They brought this unto themselves. Life is on social media and there the gov't cannot control even if they keshad.

This will be my last post here as I know wazua admin will be one of the first people to release my identity, that is if he hasn't.

To those journalists who aren't afraid of giving out info, go online.

If you need help to setup properties that can't be tracked by these fellows, ask harry dre. It's now time to go underground.

Adios.

Jose: If I make it through this thug life, I'll see you one day. The Lord is the only way to stop the hurt.
