Shafting left right and centre. BTW does anyone understand why they don't regulate LPG?
They haven't come up with a proper shafting formula yet.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Been looking for this thread everywhere. @Swenani, thanks for that month on month comparative of Kenya pump prices vs average world crude prices. Someone needs to share that with ERC and our dozing media houses (or journos). Diesel should this month drop by Sh 15 per litre, petrol by Sh 10 at a minimum and LPG by 30% of current price. PS. I am basing my guess on nothing other than simple logic

C&P:The Kenya Roads Board (KRB) has renewed its push to have the Treasury double the petroleum levy, a wish that if granted could see the cost of fuel rise steeply despite the ongoing fall in global oil prices. The agency wants the levy, which is charged at Sh9 per litre of petrol or diesel, raised to Sh18 reviving a demand that the Treasury declined to include in this year’s Budget. “Discussions with the Treasury to increase the levy are ongoing,” KRB executive director Jacob Ruwa said on Wednesday during a forum to discuss the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) in Nairobi. He said KRB had sought the Treasury’s approval in the past one-and-a-half years and was expecting a positive response this financial year. KRB argues that the current rate, set in 2006, is no longer feasible given the rise in cost of construction materials, labour and transport as well as increase in the length of roads that now require maintenance. The Kenya Roads Board instead of asking for more money should be very strict on contractors who do a shoddy job. Why should a road be constructed today only for it to start crumbling after less than 2 years. That is where the leak is and not asking for more money. Uhuru Highway was recarpeted more than 6 years ago from JKIA to UN in Gigiri.despite all the trailers that pass through it with some being overloaded the road is still intact. That should be the solution. Bwana Rotich if you are reading this don't grant Kenya roads board their request. It will also make life expensive as petrol prices cut across all sectors yet the government is looking at ways of lowering the cost of doing business.

Agreed. I hope Treasury says no again.

I beg to differ from the popular opinion. Its not ERC fault that we import refined fuel, and not crude. ERC has saved Kenyans more than we can comprehend. It takes time to enjoy the falling price. By mid December, the prices will fall again, same for mid Jan 2015. Bottom line, Kenya needs to invest in modern ways of refining crude oil.
