Hi guys.

Need to consult about a Toyota Caldina 4WD ABS 2005 with brakes issues.
- Brake pedal feels softer and occasionally gets very soft with increased braking distance (very scary!), usually accompanied by a hissing sound.
- both ABS light and brake light on dashboard come on quite often while driving, usually after a few minutes of driving.
- brake pads ok (new). Brake fluid topped up ok.
- diagnosis indicated an error with the ABS (something about ABS solenoid short circuit). Sorry, didn't get the specific error code. Mechanic reset it but ABS and dashboard brake light still keep coming on.

Very unsettling driving around with a brakes problem. I need it sorted.
What could be the problem?
Anyone know of a service centre/mechanic that truly understands brakes?... (the guys I've seen so far cannot figure it out).
Thanks

pour out the entire brake fluid. check the pads and drums and shoe (nyuma) then weka brake fluid, do proper bleeding. While at it check the seals

Thanks.
Pads, drums, discs and calipers all good. Had them checked today.
I've never replaced the brake fluid since I bought the car. Will do.

Update.
There was a loose connection to the ABS solenoid. That was fixed and ABS/brake dashboard lights haven't come on during driving since.

However, the problem of brake pedal going soft recurred, so I had the brake fluid drained and replaced, and the system was bled thoroughly.
Brakes actually feel better now. Problem hasn't recurred, hoping it doesn't. So far so good.

If all the trial n error fails get a real mechanic to inspect or otherwise replace this kanyamoπŸ‘‰πŸ‘‰πŸ‘‰

Thank me later

Your problem sounds like failure of the brake cylinder.

There is an option of buying seal kits around 3500 but depends on whether cylinder imekulika ndani
