A politician needs to have an elective seat for him to be more effective, otherwise he'll be like fish out of water. And it doesn't matter the size of that seat, what matters is that you have a legitimate recognised forum to articulate your views, a forum where your views can be turned into action. Kenya's current political situation needs a strong Baba to keep jubiree on the correct (and narrow) path otherwise the kanu children could easily take us back to the old kanu days, and the senate gives Baba an excellent forum for this. He will also revitalize the senate, which has lately become impotent, to effectively guard devolution which will be good for all kenyans. Baba is still very energetic, and also "young" (compared to some senators), and it would be unfair to force him to retire. Politics is his life, it's the only career that he knows and one that gives him satisfaction. Also there is no harm with someone taking a lesser seat, we have seen former ministers become ambassadors eg Prof Ongeri, Githae etc. and life goes on. It is just a temporary tactical retreat as one reorganises himself and prepares for the next battle. Also one should be ready to serve the public at whatever capacity. Wow. Sounds more like the world revolves around him. “Once the last tree is cut and the last river poisoned, you will find you cannot eat your money" Traditional saying.

Why all the hullaballo? In past elections presidential candidates who failed to make it served as MPs comfortably. So what is wrong with Baba serving in the upper house (senate)? There's nothing for odm members to be embarrassed about.

The article is written by Onyango Ochieng Jnr. So are you saying that the Onyangos want baba to retire? Who doesnot except McR....... Its a catch 22 for MC on one hand he know its best for babu to retire on the other hand most of Babu supporters also depend on him in one way or the other! Money, popularity and the will, only Baba can compete with the two thugs in Kenya today, the other contest can only be between Walker and Wailer, that is the state of Kenya!!! So its a personal agenda for Kitendawili...nothing to do with the people of Homa Bay. Did you read my statement well? I'm talking the presidency, not HB Senator and yes it's always personal first for every politician!!!!! So @McReggae, two questions... 1. In your person opinion, SHOULD Baba run for the Homabay seat? 2. Based on your insider info, SHALL Baba run for the Homabay seat? hehehehe, yaani you want to pin me in a corner @Washiku! 1. In my opinion Baba should not run for HB senate though some section of the party are pushing for it. 2. My friend Silas Jakakimba is running for the same seat, so Baba is not running for it!!! .....That is it!!!!! ..."Wewe ni mtu mdogo sana....na mwenye amekuandika pia ni mtu mdogo sana!".
