I need to use a document that was created in Word 03. Unfortunately... the creator forgot the password.

Any way around this? I've tried all sorts of password crackers from the net without success.

Tech people?

Try this (not sure it will work). Send the doc to your gmail account, and then go open the mail. Try and click on the 'view as web page' option. This should show you the text in the document. Might work

Tried it... but 'The attachment cannot be viewed as HTML. Download the attachment to view it in its original format' is what I get... Thanks for the idea though. Other thoughts?

Why dont you try using open office. Just download open office and use it to open the document. I use it to open any document that could be damaged and its useful to use for different type of formats!!

What about some obvious things like Notepad.

You can also try changing the document format from a doc(x) to odt and then try open office again. Just go to the file and rename file.odt or you can use ms-dos and move file.doc file.odt. If it gives you problems with windows use the MS dos prompt to change the file extension.

Wordpad may change your document to Rich text and may lose some formating but it will work. so that after opening it you can save it to rtf and open it in word and proceed.

Ask the author to re-create the document from scratch!

That will DEFINITELY work

@Mukiha... LoL! Very funny! Might just be the way to go. Tried Notepad and Wordpad... The doc opens in some undecipherable code.. Let me try the dos thing.

The gods saw my agony and intervened.. I came accross a draft version of the document on some other PC.. Rebuilding the missing parts is relatively easy.

However the challenge remains... Is there any way to crack, bypass etc a microsoft application password? There are numerous ways to bypass a windows OS password but hiyo ya application ni ngumu sana..
