No one is going to leave kebabs to their devices again. The world is not short of money to fund operations in SOM to keep kebabs in check.

My friend NATO has left the Taliban to their devices after too much chest thumping because they know shit is rough over there...

AMISOM will soon follow suit no matter how much you hate it because Shabaab will never give up even for 200 years!

The sooner they all leave, the better for this region!

The last time i checked .."pre-Chai taking in Kismayu" kebabs bragged about KDf getting stuck in mud and getting some serious whooping when they get to Afmadhow....smile what happened..? You clearly least understand the dynamics of the theater..its best you Shurrup...ask someone who has been on the ground smile Laughing out loudly

those advocating that we pull out are not realistic..Kenya went in as KDF, at that point it would have been easy to pull out..now we are part of AMISOM, it's not easy to just pull out unless the directive comes from AU. It seems we are in Somalia for the long haul...Somalia has been divided into sectors, there is no way troops in either sector will pull out while those in others remain...This is a delicate issue that cannot be solved with 'simplistic quick fix' solutions as advocated by Cord. By now Govt should have realised that our stay in Somalia going forward is bound to attract revenge from alshabaab within Kenyan soil, but since we are not pulling out, focus should be how to pre-empt / neutralize the new form of threats posed by alshabaab and their sympathizers in kenyan soil, even as we continue with operation in somalia. Intelligence here is needed more than anything else.

A time has come when Kenyans should standup and demand our troops who are in harms way in hostile terrains of Somalia back. They have performed their duties with dedication and patriotism .every Kenyan is proud of them. Reasons are;
- this is ideological war which fanatics already think religion as the reasons. We know you can never win against such propaganda .

It is not an ideological war, AS are mere criminals perpetuating chaos so that they can continue looting Somalia - read their relationship with the pirates. they have tried to make it a religious war but the war-weary Somalis have seen Somali Kenya KDF officers and know it is NOT. The foreign fighters have tried to make it religious war but the ordinary Somalis have no stomach for them esp.the suicide bombing tactics these fighters have come with as well as extremist Islam - indeed that is where the public tide against AS started changing, rem bombing at a graduation in Mogdishu

-the economical effects in a country like kenya is massive
we are being refunded for all our war costs except for our naval assets by UNSC, so what econ effects again? BTW, so much magendo stuff like sukari was coming in to Kenya through Kismayo,Mandera thus distorting our economy n threatening jobs. Saa hii ni very low or hata hakuna! And illegal arms being used in Nairobbery..

-our leaders invaded a failed country without a clear plan on how to end the war

Our exit plan is already in place! Si we re-hatted to AMISOM the other day when our troops donned green berets? The delay in taking Kismayu is because our guys are helping develop a political structure that will take over power once AS are routed by Aug 2012 so that there's no power vacuum. Believe u me if it was a purely military solution KDF would have started taking tea in Kismayu ages ago.

- we share a common border meaning very vulnerable to the fanatics obsessed and having a zeal to inflict destruction to life and property.

Ordinary Somalis are moderates, its the few wakoras who throw in religion to try confuse poor Somali youths that it is jihad. Did you see the way ordinary Somalis ignored AS calls to take up arms against our troops juzi? Umeona vile KDF were being welcomed into liberated areas? And if the Iranians' arrest juzi is an example we clearly have other players to worry about rather than AS whose capabilities have been severely weakened

- due to hardships and less opportunities our people can easily be recruited complicating already severe situation .

Dude this is a weakness of our homeland security i.e our cops, Immigration and local security teams who were asleep when the Omondis & Weres were being recruited under their noses in Majengo and Pumwani Nbi, and who are selling our citizenship (ID/ PP) for huge sums . Totally nothing to do with OLN

- harmony of Kenyans is weak. That means in case another PEV 2013,(God forbid) the consequences and alshabab terrorists within, it will be a serious security problem.
Again our homeland security is very weak.

- many of our officers are highly corrupt. Meaning easier for terrorism to operate.ethiopians despite being in Somalia for long have very few if any random attacks. Reasons their people are individually highly patriotic and love for their country.
etc...

Again our homeland security, the weak link in our security chain

I suggest:
- pull the troops out immediately
Not when they are about to accomplish their mission

-create a buffer zone in the border . Like 50 km and deploy the army currently in Somalia .
That was one of the mission objective, huh?!
- close all refugees camp in kenya. Daadab etc. build refugees camp in the southern Somalia . Let it be secured by international community and others involved .
Agreed 100%

-Somalia should be divided.kenya can start by recognizing the peaceful
Somali land . Use Her diplomacy to campaign for dividing Somalia .
Western powers and Somalis are opposed to balkanization of Somali, one reason why U.S.& Brito were unhappy when OLN was launched. Consensus would be required, but ngumu sana

@intelligensia. You now agree I was right. I still insist get the fwa*k out of Somalia now.

There's very little anybody can do to prevent those Garissa kind of terror targets. Fact remains Kenya is more dangerous than Somalia itself. We need troops home now.

Even before we think of bringing the military back home. I think by now everybody is aware that we have a BIG problem. We are in deep Shiet!! We have no homeland security. As simple as that. Military even if they were to come back home its not their job to deal with threats inside Kenya. Uhuru should be thinking of restructuring the WHOLE police force. Its a big confused mess. Increase the Elite Recce squad to like 20,000 officers well trained to deal with this kind of situations. Let the command structure be soo clear. And lastly professionalise and modernise the whole police force. Thats my opinion

i support the idea of bringing the troops back home.

the continued stay does not seem to have an eventual victory as an end in sight.
Infact, it looks like some people would want the continued stay of KDF for monetary gain eg charcoal in kismayo

by now it seems counterproductive to note that we stormed somalia to save the tourism industry as a french lady had been kidnapped in lamu.

we have the option to walk out while proclaiming victory !!
