We're just a bunch of noise makers killing time.

Whether Dempsey was sacked or resigned is splitting hairs but he came in to wind down the war in Afghanistan. Now they have decided to escalate possibilities of war in Europe and Syria and Dempsey, the man to wind down wars, was not the right man to kindle another.

I regret my initial euphoria about the war. I betrayed myself.

This is the sphere of 'noise'. Let the mourners mourn, for that they mourn for and how they mourn is not for anyone to kill.

So there's Dempsey? Am talking about Hagel http://www.theguardian.c...wn-us-defence-secretary

Mourning is okay. As for Afghanistan, if you think that's how wars are wound down then I can only laugh at you.

Ah, yes. Hagel. Sorry. My mistake.

I do not own the narrative of winding down the Afghan war. I am pierced you are laughing at me, an innocent bystander, after making a mistake. Sad Sad Sad Sad

Indeed, let me mourn in peace.

@Washiku, you're such a miserable coward. Your loved ones dying isn't a matter of any discussion or conviction at all. You too are already dead!

Yes I am. I am so afraid of Al shabaab. I am so afraid of losing a life that means a lot to me. I am not sure how I could have handled the situation if my wife was caught up in the Westgate massacre, or that Mandera one. Thanks God she is safe. I assure you I dont know how I could have handled the situation. I may be wrong, but I also dont know how she would handle the situation if it was me gone. I shed tears when I saw people lose people in these terrorist attacks. I watched last night in great pain when a woman from Kieni explained how she lost two daughters in the latest massacre. Another family in Bungoma too could not hold back tears. You see, my problem is not really that it happened. It could happen to anyone. Me included. But the problem is that it keeps happening, and nothing seems to change. My friend, I am a coward. Am not like you. I fear death, esp when it happens due to someones negligence.

If am already dead, then I am afraid of dying again.

That you think that your enemy is al Shabaab and that your wife is your life's anchor then I can only empathize and pray that you may soon be unbound from the 'devil's chains'.

Meanwhile, scream and fret. Sack Lenku and look for the biggest dog to guard you.

Thank you. I will keep screaming. Do you believe in the Bible? Jesus gave a story of a woman who kept pestering the King with requests and prayers. The King heard her and sorted her, just to reduce the noise. Similarly, lets keep shouting, maybe someone will listen and sort out the things, before I save enough to buy the biggest dog.

Yeah. Doing something over and over will yield some result that meets your fancies.

You should have told him to prove to you which number is working, not giving you a list for you to spend airtime on.

Ask him a more direct question

My point here was about you finding out for yourself and not waiting to be told by Moha which numbers are working or not.

Now i want you to go further with that information you have that those numbers are not working, as a tax paying citizen email Kenya police CC nationmedia, statehouse, substandard, the people, statehouse.gov etc and let them know their numbers are not working.

That is how responsible citizenship starts and we should all follow suit.

Kratos, go sing those songs about working police phone numbers to the birds. We are sincerely tired of stories

Just sort the issue or start packing. Some things are rather clear this is one of them.

By the way I wanted to do that...I wanted to check the the police address. I found the website is down. All in all, I would appreciate if you realize; my friend, that this is not really my job, otherwise the operation guy at police hq should be replaced with me.

Exactly what i wanted to bring out. Security is not your job. Sadly that's how many Kenyans think. Security starts with each one of us!

Mostly, all you do is pose questions. An answer, even a wrong one, is useful from time to time. You are a keyboard theorist, just like the rest of us -unless you have done something tangible in the real world, among people -which in your own conviction will help alleviate the problem. Have you done such? Enlighten us. But probably you will want to ask me to define :
a) what is 'tangible'
b) what is the 'real world'
c) some other abstract/notional thing not in a and b that I might have missed

Luckily for my children we now have twitter. Thus far, the networks around the area are down.

Then the media have declared a total blackout. They are willing to talk about Furguson the whole night but not this. They are willing to have days of naked women stripped in Nairobi, but not an issue where security is important and the President is nowhere to be seen.

For all of you who work in media companies in Kenya, shame on you really. Those Kenyans who died in Mandera are just as important as those that died at the Mall.

I'm tired now. Going back home. Happy to see the youth in Kenya don't read newspapers and don't watch Ktn.

Nimechoka.

d'oh!

So the truth is things have fallen apart - due to little or no political will to get it done!
However much the common guy tries, nothing will be achieved in the absence of political will!

The rest is apology for those sleeping on the job - and that's our undoing!
Just as absolute power corrupts leaders, so does absolute fanaticism blind the people from logic

But surely there is a reason why we all dont work at Vigilance house...That is why someone sits in that office and draws a salary. Further, I did my part. I was ready to use my internet and my time to inform them that their numbers are not working. But I am totally in darkness on how to do that. The only tweet I ever did about it was never replied to. My job as a citizen is to inform them so that they act. I hope you dont expect me to set up the communication lines for them, do you?

Why do we demand so little of our public servants?
