After all the debate about the 'new F1' being boring - more efficient but muted engines, fuel limits, etc, yesterday's Grand Prix in Bahrain was quite the breath of fresh air to say the least.

This was the most interesting race in a long while. So much wheel to wheel action [the intra team battles were particularly good - interesting for instance how Vettel started complaining of loss of power after Ricciardo overtook him]. Then the twist of the safety car after that crazy Maldonado accident.

Best of all Hamilton delivered a masterclass to beat Rosberg who was faster late on.

Lewis Hamilton, started second, overtook Rosberg to take first, built up a lead of 13 seconds, wiped out by the Safety Car, on slower tyres for the last 10 laps, Rosberg hunted him down relentlessly, BUT A RACER IS A RACER!

you realise riccardo's car was set up with lower downforce and high top speed due to his penalty (for speed and overtaking) so in any battle with vettel he was always bound to have the stronger hand? and that vettel did have power issues in q1 and 2 on saturday?

I think the new engine rules have been introduced this season to make F1 more competitive.....that's the only way there were going to stop Red bull.
