I think this is a good move by GoK. In many countries all private vehicle over 3yrs old are inspected annually or biennially to conform to safety, road worthiness and emission standards. This will prevent dumping of non-compliant jalopies from japan, UK etc into Kenya. I sometimes see private cars that are nearly falling apart and some emitting very thick smoke. Inspections will lead to better environmental and human health. Less cancer and respiratory diseases.

I pay valuation every year before my car is insured, why cant the government use the insurance companies to incorporate in the additional checks/parts to be inspected and have the insurance companies issue the certificate of inspection and valuation? After all,its the insurance companies who stand to gain the most and I believe the insurance companies inspection will be way better than that nonsense that goes on in industrial area!

Hi there, Habari za Majuu?
Maybe Inspection is serious business there but here it is just another avenue for corruption.
Here you don't need to take a driving test to get a license .You also need not bother taking vehicle for inspsection to get a sticker!

Applause Applause Now this would work. Just with a few amendments here and there coz even some insurance guys ni wakora tu. However, its easier dealing with them than dealing with the government. The unfortunate thing with gava is that it will be just another avenue to eat.

@mc come to think of it. Assuming there are 1M vechicles in kenya. We know inspection booking to KRA is sh1000 per vehicle, that comes to 1Billion revenue per year Think

Now add that to alcoblow, city speed limit, etc etc

Its a good move if well implemented. Hapa mayuu its done every 2 years and have a sticker. Without the sticker, unalipa fine na unaacha gari.It done in specific centers sio garage and not that expensive. I hope hawatasema ni 5K for an inspection.
