I've fitted the device in my vehicle. Once i loaned my car to my sister. At some point it was getting really late and her mobile phone was off. Called track it. They correctly identified its location and that it was stationery. Is this story as genuine as they're making it out to be?

By the way what is the market share of Track It compared to other tracking companies?And approximately how many vehicles are they serving in total?Could it be in thousands or tens of thousands?My bro's car is fitted with one from the same company and it works perfect.This is the live version and u can see your own vehicle location at any time of the day/night 24/7 by just loging in into their website.Av just checked even now and its packed near Afya centre in the CBD. @ All,I have fitted my car hire fleet with a tracking device,not from track -it.....and it saved me one day when it was sold by a client.
This system works like this,I can follow it on my computer form the office,that is how I know it works.
As for this guy,all who have paid for this service should confirm it is fitted,then if there is fraud,the guy should be deported,or if he is Kenyan,investigate him back to the day he started working to see if he has paid his taxes.........then jail him and throw away the key.............

How sure are we that this is not just a ploy to destroy the competition. Is it possible that Mpigs like isaac ruto own shares in competing companies? Ktn also has a track record of being sensational. If they're wrong on this then they should prepare themselves for a major law suit

....By now you would expect the Mhindi to be in police custody........With such high profile witnesses as Ruto,Eseli and that MD (Didn't get his name) and probably many more customers,there is no good reason why that scam Mhindi is still walking Guka wa bijuti... @Kasheshi According to KTN,only high risk ccars are fitted with the device...so maybe yours is one of them. The only problem is that car owners of the 'low risk' cars have paid for the tracking device too and it's never fitted...that is where the beef is now. Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn't.. Nevermind what haters say, ignore them til they fade away - Just live your life

her is my version...... CARTRACK is owned/proxy by Melly,Ruto et al. Due to its uncopetitive pricing poor PR it has been haemorrahging clients . Enter TRACK IT which targets the mass market wirth above the line marketing.
Due to over whelming demand,mhindi orders his workers to only install in high risk vehicles first.. Likeallmhindi company a disgruntled worker is fired and manages to download the companys database and Vukas to Cartrack.
Seeing an opportunity to finish off an opponent and recover ROI,the Gutter Press Juggernut moves with speed to sensationalise an otherwise petty mhindi case of cutting coners

@ leona,you're right. My vehicle is considered to be high risk. Come to think of it,most of the cars that they advertise as having been recovered are high risk. .@ Waria your theory sounds plausible. It's sad that people like Namu are risking their lives yet they're just pawns in a bigger scheme

This leaves me with the feeling that the picking of only high risk vehicles to install the gadgets with is a standard means of operation within this industry.
The most damaging part to Track It is the bribery angle which I believe is the main reason why KTN went ahead and did the piece the way they did it (eg using terms like rogue and fraud etc).
But even the bribery angle leaves so many loopholes as the story we have is from KTN (including edited videos etc). It is not clear from what I saw whether the money was for a bribe or for all we know for something else and that is assuming that the envelope had money. And given the way the money was handled by the investigating reporters,unless they were dusted for prints before that,there would be no other propable way to show that he paid the cash.
For all we know - KTN guys contact the fellow and tells him someone is spoiling their name and they need to trap them or that they want to do in their competitors and they agree on a fee....
Either way as a business I do not see Track It rising from this. But one clear thing is that this companies do not invest in good PR or spin guys as the MD's press conference was s**t.

Waria's theory appeals to the conspiracy theorist in me. Actually makes sense. And did someone else also get taken in by the KTN's trailer leading to the first episode where it made it seem as if Track It was somehow involved with the carjackers?
Note: At this point I am assuming that the story of selective installation is true as it seems possible but as usual not swallowing it - what if those vehicles that did not have the device simply had them plucked out by the owners? Given the bribery angle however that theory would appear mute.

I would like to look at it that way. But knowing the way things are,i doubt KTN would be willing at all to be used by a competitor to do their dirty job for various reasons
1. KTN is not in the very good books of the government and should it get itself in such mess (assuming that they are being used to mudsling a competitor),they know as well as we do that the government will hit them so hard and will take up that opportunity to 'teach' it a lesson.
2. I would want to believe that for a show to be aired for 3 days,they must be having their facts correct.
3. the MD was not very convincing that TRACK IT/THEM was a clean business.
4. It wouldnt be good for KTN competition at all should it come out that the story was not real. Not with their major competitor claiming to tell 'The Truth'.... they will be rubber stamping that and suggesting that they tell the opposite.
Some deals are like glass. Sometimes it's better to leave them broken than try to hurt yourself putting it back together.

@ Njung'e,i know it sounds like i'm defending them but believe me i'm not. It's just interesting that so many people are swallowing the whole piece without asking questions. I think it's time the police intervened,did some proper investigating and collected tangible evidence in the interests of the mwananchi. Right now we're only getting one side of the story

Track it should survive and maybe become bigger.
All they have to do is go on the other TV shows and claim that KTN and Car Track have the same owners.
Next fire the MD and claim he was part of the plot to deprive Kenyans jobs by doing this. I mean that was too easy and for 20k dollars?
Offer all owners a free test to determine if their cars have been fitted. every one they find with the instrument should then be on TV showing it exists in their car. The others without it wouldn't have a clue anyway.
The problem I have with the story is making it too sensational so a good marketer can poke holes all around those claims of being rogue. All that the MD has to do is claim that Namu and Moha wanted the money to talk ill of someone else or even to talk well of their company or even to hire a prostitute from Mombasa,or get the left over drugs they had in Mombasa.
The idea that a former employee can be honest is something that is too open to interpretation.
this MD should go but at the same time,I don't trust the vitriol that KTN has been throwing and the high fives they are giving each other. I was looking at the workers in that company and couldn't help wondering what happened to responsible journalism. This is a case that should be in court and not making sensational claims that only makes the competitor benefit and benefit immensly.

I thought I was the only one skeptical about this story! There are too many inconsistencies! In the clips you will not hear Tejani say 'I will give you 1.5 million kenya shillings so that you don't expose this fraud'! He only says ati the company has been going through financial difficulties since 2007, but that could be an answer to any of a myriad of questions! Conveniently, we don't hear the question!
Plus I thought he made sense about the envelope! The second envelope did not look like it contained 20k dollars!
Unfortunately, he looked as guilty as a kid found with sugar on his lips during his press conference!

The first episode sounded convincing....then last,KTN went back to its classic sensational fashion (with the reporters siting in their car,wearing dark shades acting like gangsters) and I started doubting the whole story. And the news conference they aired was so heavily edited that it left me wondering what else the MD said. Now,that envelope said to contain US$20,000......at least 200 notes.....was just too thin. Let's wait and see what they say tonight. But I must warn you...half of everything that you get in the press is an outright lie; of the remaining half,half is doubtful,of the remaining half (quarter),half is unverified.....eventually,only about 10 percent is factual truth!!!! Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

My car is apparently fitted with the device.. I just called 'unTrack It/Them' asking them to give me the location of the car and they gave me a long story about signals blah blah blah… they are asking me to take the car to them and they will show me the location of the device… I then told them the car is stolen and they asked for the police OB number first reporting the theft before they could track…. Forgive your enemies but never forget their names… The man who marries a beautiful woman, and the farmer who grows corn by the roadside have the same problem

Where ZZE... and others have totally lost me is this part of proving that they can know they don't have the devices.
So far KTN has claimed that 'experts' looked for the device. Turns out expert is a former disgruntled employee. There was no independent verification of this story. Heck it could even have been Car Track.
One guy like ZZE..here was on TV claiming that he called them and lied to them that their car was stolen.....Only question is exactly who are these people? Are they also employees or associated with Car Track or Standard? Even Njunge is suspect at this rate with his claims of looking for the 'secret' device.
Basic journalism demands that you verify and prove your assertions. In cases where there are obvious crimes,the police should and must be involved. What would KTN have done if they had come accross 'real' carjackers in this 'mills and boons' story?
From what I have seen on KTN journalism,I have serious credibility issues with this company and can only read a business and political motive. Unless of course they take their case to the police and then we see where the cookie crumbles.
By the way,who offered to kill the story first,was it KTN or the guy? In the phone calls that we are not made aware of,exactly how far did KTN go towards making this guy offer $20,000 in an envelope? What was their complicity in getting the bribe? How did they manage to get documents from a company? Did they 'bribe' someone in house to send the owner's names?
Unlike KTN i don't believe that commiting a crime to prove a crime is crime busting.
