Devolution is slowly destroying us

While the idea to devolve resources to counties was a noble idea, it is now clear that a lot of evil is emanating from it. The health sector is being mismanaged, people are extremely divided not just tribally but clans and families are turning against each other. There is massive greed, intolerance and corruption. We need to save our country before it is too late

Good question. We need to take a long hard look at ourselves and figure out what is important. Pouring more money into counties will not solve anything but make us more divided. We could start by seeing how other countries are managing their devolved systems and borrow a leaf

The idea of creating 47 centres of development and power was not bad, but elevating the positions of these Rats and making them powerful as well as over-glorifying the governors was a huge mistake. This is one of the reasons recurrent expenditure is so high to maintain these bloated egos. CDF worked just fine, just needed to be increased. If all the county money was devolved through CDF we would have been treated to less eating, less drama, tiny wage bill, less politics more development.

Devolution can't destroy us. Our political ideas are destroying us. Voters are asleep and political leaders blind. And this is because our spirituality is corrupt.

Of course devolution is going nowhere, but this will be a steep learning curve. However, some counties are really reaping the fruits, while others are making everybody sick.

Neither does a baby start running when he/she should be crawling. Kenyans are not known for their patience and this could be our Achilles heel in devolution. We want everything NOW!

The same people would have called back the colonial masters, when we experienced a few problems after independence. We'll get there. Its some of us doubting-Thomases that are doing the country the greatest disservice.
