The possibility of Al Shabaab retaliatory attacks in Somalia(Mogadishu) and Kenya are high following this killing of their leader Abdi Godane by the US using Kenyan Military intelligence. Stay safe.

The official said that nine Hellfire missiles and one 500-pound guided bomb had been used in the strike.

Tis expensive to terminate these sub-humans: 1 Hellfire missile costs about $100,000, so 9 were abt KShs 79.44m, nt even counting cost of the AGM bomb plus the related costs.
Rest in pieces and in the hottest corner of hell madafuaka.

America has a way of claiming back it's own assets...ESAF is crap without a revenue stabilizing component ..akin to a KRA version ...conflicts are fanned by MNCs' to avoid paying royalties and taxes...next on the cross hairs should be Kony and his gang in Kafia Kingi

This was the initial strategy of preemptively striking and smoking them out for KDF but the AMISOM deal stifled it. Keeping them on the run is the best solution to the menace

Pliz Kenyans be realistic about this. Winning a war with unconventional insurgents in a foreign territory is impossible. The Soviets tried to defeat the Mujahedeen failed. America tried to defeat the Taliban failed. What makes anyone think Kenya can win?
Kenya needs a strategic exit. They can claim that they have met their goals and are now returning to secure the border.

'Always begin with the end in mind' even an armchair strategist like tycho knows that. But Kenya didn't go to this fight with a clear strategy dependent on her resources and will. Now we need to think really hard.

KDF is the US's proxy in Somalia, I think. As the world's police, they cannot let Somalia go to the toilet without appearing to do something, neither can the electorate stand more American boots on the ground. Enter KDF to be at the sharp end of things.
UK cannot make a unilateral decision and pull our troops out, even when there seems to no more advantage to be had; the newfound cosiness with Washington and the Europeans would evaporate in an instant...proceedings at the ICC would turn different..

I've been thinking about similar lines. And was almost despairing till I remembered Blair's confession that he no longer understands politics... given the rise of Corbyn in England and Sanders in the U.S that's the wiggle space we can grab.

Al-Shabaab militants raided Diff police camp near the Kenya-Somalia border Saturday morning, injuring one policeman.

Wajir County Commissioner Michael Ole Tialal said at least three militants could have been injured or killed during the 1.30 am attack.

“It is true the Al-Shabaab came and attacked Diff police camp but our officers fought them off. One police officer was shot and injured on the knee but the rest of the officers are okay.

"All our officers are accounted for,” Mr Tialal told the Nation on phone.

He added: “The attackers could, however, have suffered more casualties due to the amount of blood at the scene.

"They were speaking in Swahili saying their people had been seriously injured as they carried and loaded them in vehicles before fleeing.”

This is the second attack at the Diff police camp this year.

On Saturday, the extremists shot indiscriminately at the police officers at the camp before they were repulsed.

Mr Tialal could not confirm earlier reports that the raiders also looted a police armoury only saying a team had been dispatched to provide reinforcement and investigate the attack.

“Our officers are doing investigation to see what happened. As you know communication network in the area is weak,” the commissioner said.

The militia armed with rifles numbered more than 150 and came in seven vehicles, four Land Cruisers, two Toyota Probox and a lorry, he said.

Mr Tialal said the militia disappeared deep into Somalia and the Kenya Defence Forces across the border had been notified to pursue them.

The raiders engaged the police officers in a fierce fight before disappearing back into Somalia.
