I don't think there's any truth in that Reus story, Arsenal were interested in him before the WC but signed Sanchez instead after the German got injured. 40m for another wide player is a bit pointless......

Welbeck could turn out like Sturridge. At least he is pacy and will be a good outlet. Age is on his side too.
My only concern is that Arsenal are limited at the back after letting go four defenders and signing only Chambers.

Frustration year in, year out. Chest thumping about being ready to spend, then wait for the deadline day, run helter skelter....

What goes on in Wenger's mind is difficult to understand.

Can we compete with Chelsea? Man city? Liverpool? Am afraid even man Utd "looks" better equipped than us.

Postives for Utd: Signing of quality in Falcao, Di Maria,Herrera, Blind, Rojo and Shaw. Those players, in each of their respective/alternate positions, are much better than any player we have.

Negatives: How will they all fit in the bigger picture? Why are Utd stuck with Cleverley, Anderson and Valencia??? Even after offers were made for Cleverley???

Personally I was disappointed that Utd did not get THE defensive midfielder we were all waiting for, meaning that Blind is THE defensive midfielder. His versatility, like Phil Jones, is welcome, but I expected more.

Anyway, the question in all Utd fans' minds is whether LvG will persist with the 3-5-2 which is clearly not meant for BPL, any team will find Utd easy pickings. For me,the ideal squad will be:

De Gea
Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw
Blind
Herrera/Mata Di Maria/Januzaj
Falcao Rooney

That's for a back 4.

As for goon squad, am still wondering why Wenger did not snap up Negredo on loan...almost like for like with Giroud only stronger and more skilled. I will be doubly disappointed if Wellbeck goes and becomes top scorer in Arsenal, hehehe...it's not impossible.

Welbeck is not in the same league as Falcao but he is still a decent striker, i admired his work rate and pace at Man Utd. He is also versatile in that he can play across the front three positions.

never really played up front for them - mostly wings. may be the next sturrigde. heck! whom i kidding. wenger has screwed the arsenal proper once again. and no deep lying midfielder with arteta's legs gone and flamini main objective seemingly to run around shouting and looking for yellows. and no cover for defence too....

DO YOU KNOW??

Ronaldinho first gained media attention when his youth team won 23-0. He scored all 23 goals.

Chelsea have been relegated more times than that they have won the league.

The difference in Messi's age & Ronaldo's age is 869 days. The same difference between Messi and Ronaldo's son.

Arsenal bought Anelka, Overmars, Petit,
Henry, Vieira,Fàbregas, RVP, Toure,Adebayor and Nasri for £42m. Then sold them for £206m

Zinedine Zidane was never caught offside in
his whole career.

Only one gold PL trophy has been awarded
and it was to Arsenal because in 2003/2004
season they didn't lose one match.

Brazilian legend, Pele, scored 92 hat-tricks,
four goals on 31 occasions, five on six
occasions, and eight on an occasion.

When Mourinho says you have a bright future; It means you can't make his team at the present.

Cristiano Ronaldo was expelled from school at the age of 14 after throwing a chair at his
teacher for mocking his family's financial
status.

CR7 has no tattoos because he frequently
gives blood & getting a tattoo would render
him unable to do so for 6 months.

RealMadrid sold 50,000 James Rodriguez
jerseys in one day. Juventus sold 0 Bendtner
jerseys in one season.

In January 2003, Van Gaal was SACKED by
Barcelona after leaving them just three points above the relegation zone.

Arsenal have won two trophies since
Manchester United last won a competitive
match.

Burnley have spent £45million on transfers
since 1882.

Manchester United have spent £59.7million
this week.

Louis Van Gaal and David Moyes Attended the Same Tactical Management School.

That one for Zidane sounds unbelievable....but the again, he was an attacking midfielder and not a striker....

LvG always falls out with club management after he has achieved his set goals of winning the league...it can be in the 1st,2nd or 3rd season, but it always happens...I expect him to be in Utd for 3 seasons maybe, and win the league in the 2nd or 3rd season

ION, the best news of the transfer window was Cleverleys late move to Aston Villa on loanApplause Applause Applause Applause Applause Applause Applause Applause

Apparently they were allowed to conduct the transfer after the window was shut because they had met the deadline for submission of paperwork!!!

With important transfer business still needing to be done, Arsene Wenger spent deadline day in Rome for the Pope's Match for Peace. The following is a transcript of the text messages exchanged by Wenger and Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis throughout the day.

Wenger: Please keep me informed today, Ivan. Maybe a good deed on this day will bring us good karma. Does the Pope believe in karma? :-/

Gazidis: I don't think so. Not sure.

Wenger: Grrrrr.

Gazidis: Don't worry Arsene, I'm confident things will go our way today. I'll keep you posted.

Wenger: Thx.

****

Gazidis: Danny Welbeck's here with the England squad. His agent offered him to us. Interested?

Wenger: Lololololololololol.

Gazidis: Ok.

Wenger: What's the dealio with Falcao?

Gazidis: Monaco want a £10m loan fee, player wants £346,000 a week. Man Utd, maybe City also interested.

Wenger: For a 28-year-old with one knee? Let United have him. They can tie him and Van Persie together and create one player with two good knees on four times the wages.

Gazidis: Haha ok.

Wenger: smile)

****

Wenger: Any other forwards? I'm starting to get the Sanogo sweats...

Gazidis: Welbeck could be best option. Wants a permanent deal, no loan. United closing in on Falcao.

Wenger: Uggggghhhhhh. Roberto Baggio is here. Maybe I should ask him to come out of retirement.

Gazidis: Haha.

Wenger: Baggio said no. Damn.

Wenger: Shevchenko overheard my offer, but I avoided his attempts to make eye contact.

****

Gazidis: So...Welbeck?

Wenger: Uggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. There's a little kid sitting behind me. I'll ask him if he wants to play for us.

Gazidis: I'll have Welbeck do a medical just in case.

Wenger: Kid doesn't speak English. Had no idea what I was saying.

Wenger: Ok on Welbeck medical. Just deny it if anyone asks. ;-)

Gazidis: Will do.

Wenger: ;-)

****

Gazidis: Running out of time...

Wenger: Ffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Gazidis: Go on Welbeck? Also, I just remembered that you said you wanted a center back a couple weeks ago.

Wenger: Fine. Yes. Welbeck could work maybe. He's young. He's been playing out of position. Maybe United didn't F him up too much. Ok, let's do this. This could work. Whatever.

Wenger: Just don't pay more than what Liverpool paid for Balotelli. That comparison could make this deal look better for us when Mario decides he wants to be a chef in Tibet next year.

Wenger: As for CB...William Gallas still unattached?

Gazidis: Are you being serious? Sarcasm sometimes gets lost in text messages.

Wenger: Yes. Serious. :-/

****

Gazidis: Welbeck done. Have a statement for the press release?

Wenger: No thanks.

Gazidis: Ok. Here's the release.

Wenger: Lost the charity match...thanks for asking.

Gazidis: Sorry.

Wenger: Never relying on Pope karma again.

If this is TRUE then Wenger must be suffering from senile dementia.
