Who or what has conditioned the African to consume what he/she doesn't produce, and produce what he/she doesn't consume?

Why is such a situation a tragedy?

The problem with Africa is that all or most have been alienated from their identity as humans with a traceable history and spirit for political convinience. The present day African despises himself and embraces symbols and philosophies he doesn't understand in a bid to feed and clothe himself. The African is still a slave deep in the mind and heart.

Correction: Africa is 100 yrs behind.

We have a rich traceable history and spirit for political greed.
The present day African is slow to embrace modern symbols and philosophies that work in his favour, in a bid to enrich himself and hold on to positions which become channels of oppression.
In Africa the law is applied selectively.

Depends on which Africans you are talking about. The ones left behind were naive but hardly slaves. The British did consider us savages but treated us better than the Americans treated their slaves. I think our problem is that we picked all the bad habits and not enough of the good ones. We are always playing catch up. Don't forget these buggers have been at this for quite a long while.

One problem with the "African" is that he tries to blame everyone else for his problems but never sees his fault in anything.
