@goldilocks, i was at UoN between 1996 to 2001, staying at Hall 13.

Direct access from University way into and out of the building would ease traffic issues whereby most building occupants park around St Pauls area then walk to the office except for the few who directly access the building on their vehicles from the university way.

Very intellectually refreshing debate on this project

@a4architect.com i was there 1992-1996 in Hall 10 then Chiromo.

It is reported that construction of the building is coming with a comprehensive traffic management plan but it has not been disclosed. Will find out.

I really do not know what kind of traffic management that they have in place after the completion...whether it is the 1997 one or a completely new one.

one thing is for sure...the tower block will be holding close to 4000 people (this figure does not include the basement 4 to 1, ground floor, mezzanine 1 & 2 floors) on full occupancy and probably a quarter of this will be having vehicles, so as for the parking in the building basements, they might be reserved for boss tenants only.

I do not see anything changing in those parkings in the basements. The real change will only occur in the adjacent roads.

Traffic around the area will be terrible

Parking space has been factored into the design. Glass half full. Please think positive. Is traffic around KICC terrible?

Lets think mathematically, assuming everyone in the building and the surrounding with the privilege of driving leaves at 5, and given that the roads will not expand, how will that traffic be?

The traffic flow will not be any different than it is now because the available parking space in the basement will be optimumly utilised just as it is happening now...Although the tower will be constructed there will be no corresponding increase in parking space...

In the early stages fo development, the civil engineers persuaded the Nairobi City Council to make monrovia and mokhta daddah street single lanes which they did...but NCC made a very stupid mistake...introducing side parkings along these roads...This is why most of the times there is traffic jams along koinange street even when the university way is clear!!

I believe those who will be parking there will eventually leave for other businesses, supposing they all leave at five baada ya kazi, how messy will the roads be esp if we are to believe that the 500 who currently park there work in the vicinity? Traffic will def be a mess....but thats the Kenyan way of doing things...we'll react later

Lets not forget... there is a Heliport... they thought of everything... smile

How many will be landing there yawa

I see serious traffic issue in Nairobi. Some of these companies should have moved their headquarters to business friendly towns like Nakuru, Eldoret, Kakamega...
