The main highway to the great town of Muranga a few months back. In this instance, let me exonorate my dear Gavana Mr Mwangi of Miok, it is a class B highway, and the Murangan's need a DIALOGUE like yesterday!

May I also add that it is the same highway that goes to Kiria-ini and Othaya kwa Baks. The people of Othaya use this road to Nairobi, and it was still like this during baks' time! Same punishment is meted on Michuki's people etc.

Ngai mwathani Jeso! So actually wamweiga are better off than Othayans? Sad

Uhunye should stop pretending and do something on his backyard. The above is a major highway leading to a County HQs.

About 146 families displaced by construction of the Lamu Port South-Sudan Ethiopia Transport Corridor (Lapsset) will be compensated before the end of this month.

Lapsset Chairman Francis Muthaura, during a visit to the Lamu Port site at Kililana on Wednesday, promised to ensure that all the affected families are compensated before the ground-breaking ceremony by President Uhuru Kenyatta next month.

President Kenyatta is expected to visit Lamu to officially launch construction of the first three berths of the project that will cost the national government Sh42 billion.

Addressing the Lapsset board and Lamu leaders during a meeting at the KPA Offices in Lamu, Mr Muthaura said his aim is to ensure all genuine families whose land was taken away for the massive project are compensated as soon as possible.

“We want to ensure that there is no interruption once the port construction begins. We will compensate all affected families before we start any construction work,” Mr Muthaura said.

“I want us to have settled issues with the locals before any construction work begin. I know the President is coming to launch the construction of the first three berths in September. Let me therefore assure you that all the affected people will be paid their compensation in the next few days and not weeks,” he added.

I found this quite interesting

Notable is the dualling of Athi-river - Machakos as well as the ORR. The other day The contractor for the ORR was looking for a site to mobilize materials and equipment......maybe in a barracks nearby. Makofi!

I also love the works done on the Mau-summit-Kericho-Kisumu

Cant the so called Engineers remember to do some marking. This is the same case that happened to The Sagana Karatina Road done by one Ephraim Maina

I now believe contractors never budget for marking. MOST kenyan roads are not marked.

Any noticeable difference? Have blackouts reduced? Bills?

Quote:
Last month, the firm connected 140 megawatts to the national grid and announced plans to connect another 140MW by end of this year.
The plants are expected to generate an additional 70MW, bringing the total additional output from Olkaria to 350MW.

KenGen has moved 150 families from the geothermal well exploration fields in Olkaria ending a decade-long struggle to create room for expansion of the multi-billion project. KenGen also plans to build three churches, a school and a dispensary for the relocated households. KenGen had acquired 1,700 acres in Kedong farm to resettle the families. The relocation paves the way for expansion of geothermal plants that the State has been banking on to pull down electricity tariffs.

Each family has been given a new two-bedroom house with a kitchen and a living room on a one acre plot under the Resettlement Action Plan partly funded by the World Bank and KenGen to a tune of Sh5 billion. The furnished houses come as double blessing to families who are currently living in makeshift houses (manyattas) which lack electricity and piped water.
