Soldiers are trained to kill or die fighting. Surely, the IS stated goal is to plant their flag on top of the White House. It is them getting involved with the US! The US cannot allow IS anywhere near its interests and personnel in Iraq especially their 5,000 man embassy. As for the UK, it has plainly stated the EU canNOT allow a determined terrorist 'state' at it's doorstep.
IS resupply routes from Syria will be cut off using combined drone and fighter jet attacks so that their barbarians in Iraq will be surrounded and eliminated. The IS days are numbered in Iraq over the coming months.
Syria though has a real challenge as it is a avowed US enemy yet the need that help from the US whilst the US itself is keen on helping the FSA uproot Assad in Syria. The Syrian situation looks bleak. IS maybe there for a while hence why the taking all the heavy equipment taken from Iraqi troops over into Syria, Raqqa, their HQ.
