It seems he has good intentions but no way to implement his good intentions in a manner that preserves his good intentions.

To me he is complicated.

Has there been an example of someone whose every word was understood by another?

Is there a moment or state of being in which one can totally understand the other @masukuma?

I guess we are all on the same page on this sio? We all want our kids to live better lives, we all want to live fairly peaceful lives bila thugs knocking at your door or stealing your cars when you go run marathons. we want good hospital services for us and our children. We want transport systems that get you from A to B cheaply and without problems. We want our children to have meaningful education that will enable them to provide and build/sustain a society that does all that have been mentioned above -sio?

my angle... let's do a CAUSE ---> EFFECT map. We are doing A because the effect is B! demonstrated... you buy a house so that u don't need to pay rent (where you don't own squat even after 10 years of rent) but rather pay morgage (buying your house one month at a time) - makes sense right? That is what I want! draw a path between age of 'leaders' and the future we all want.... not some obscure and incomplete mathematics on ages and mapping that to the west. Heck who said we are 25 years behind the west? What is the gauge? Have we gone to the moon? they did that over 40 years ago.... do we have nukes? they did that over 50 years ago... they are using smart phones... we are also using smartphones like them.... problems zetu ni mingi let's fix real problems and leave imaginary ones to philosophers like tycho

c'mon masukuma, most if not all of these achievements have to be measured per the best there is out there, therefore you cannot ignore the west/East. For example you mention good hospitals? what is good hospitals? when I walk into the hospital with any ailment, I expect the doctors there to have adequate knowledge and equipment to diagnose appropriately and treat it. Who currently make and have best equipment? is that aping? We cannot stick in the past while new more efficient and effective solutions are available. We should actually take those and improve them further without re-inventing the wheel...

'aping' is cultural, norms, worldview like. complete rejection of western inventions, education to rebuild your own is madness.

@masukuma, what exactly are you prescribing for the African and how is this prescription to be effected?

But he already said it. Build for your next door neighbour.
Yaani find out what works and is sustainable for you and your sorrounding and stop embracing what we cannot handle.

Our problem is we want to become first world by working on all fronts. That is not possible because it will make us confused. We even forgot about the very basic part of life. We need to work on our education, health and culture(+sports) before we even think about the standard gauge, which I have been made to believe is only one track. Surprising. Why build "superhighways" while the users do no know how to "drive"? It becomes a death trap.

Sorry, but I don't understand. You use 'you' then it becomes 'we' suddenly. Then what does 'build for your neighbor' mean in terms of values? How does one 'embrace' what he can't handle?

Build for Africa! build in context! don't build a 'me too' product - you will not get the validation your are looking for... not in a 100 years. Build for your neighbour... not UG.. not Garissa - your neighbour in Nairobi! everything else moves from that point. that is a fact not an aspiration based on nothing.

Masukuma kuja hapa.

Is it everyone in Nairobi to produce something for Nairobians? And those in Turkana for Turkanans?

What are some of the things that can be produced thus and maintain competitive advantage over products from other places?

Will such a system of production be 'Capitalistic'? Or what economic system is it?

On what fact is this aspiration based on?

@Kysse, did you really get @masukuma's point?
