Why buy airside buses? Isn't this the responsibility of KAA? Will each airline buy their own?

But KAA does jack the other day I rem seeing an email whereby KQ was pleading with them to buy some seats which is indeed their prerogative...you can't let your business suffer because someone else doesn't do their part.

Possibly continuing flights into affected regions despite the ebola outbreak. Corporate greed at its best

Big risk by Naikuni, they should call for proper screening of all persons arriving from those areas, once the Ebola virus is in, quite difficult to contain considering our significant Nairobi population, more than a few could lose their lives.

Zambia has banned entry for all persons from the affected West African states until the situation improves.

Can KQ afford suspending west africa's lucrative trips in the midst of a tourism slump? Money got no morals. High risk move and if the bet goes against them...

You have the right to call it corporate greed if you so wish, just like our members of parliament. I watched with disbelief as they argued over what they know not about, to paraphrase Kimunya.
On a second thought, We have always had travel advisories and that does not mean we suspend close down govt offices and businesses at the affected areas.
What I like about those airlines that suspended flights is that they gave business to the african airlines who wish to continue growing the continent.

Kenyans should be more serious. Uganda is a country where Ebola has been reported several times. Yet we have continued to send several students to Ug. schools and colleges. We've had a lot of trade activities with Ug. despite the scare. How many cases were brought to Kenya from this?
Effect on KQ share price? well, am scared on that..

Indeed. People have a way of exaggerating perceived risks. Malaria kills 182,500
per year in Kenya alone. Obesity Kills 374,239 per year in the USA. Ebola has killed 1000 worldwide. Yeah cancel flights to West Africa and you will still die from obesity.
Life is short. Live passionately.

When European countries [or USA] issues Travel Advisories Kenyans cry all sorts of discrimination. They don't want to lose a single citizen to an attack just as we don't want to lose a single Kenyan to Ebola. Aren't the MPs being hypocritical?

Why should the USA/UK take a risk of having one of their citizens injured or die if we cannot or do not want one of ours to die?

BTW, I hope ALL passengers from the affected areas are being thoroughly screened! I'd hate to be that one Kenyan who dies of Ebola! On the other hand, I would be dead...

SAA’ decision on West African flights consistent with WHO
Source: SAA
14/08/2014
South African Airways’ (SAA) decision to continue operating in West Africa is consistent with the position adopted by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The Emergency Committee of the WHO on the Ebola outbreak, held a meeting in Geneva from 06 - 07 August 2014 and concluded that “there should be no general ban on international travel or trade” to that region. Having noted the announcement by the WHO, SAA has stepped up measures aimed at protecting its passengers, crew and ground staff.
The measures include ensuring that the airline has in place vigilant staff that will be on the lookout for passengers who bear specific and visible symptoms associated with the Ebola virus. The staff is adequately trained to manage incidents of this nature, should a need to do so arise.
In cases where a passenger may bear visible symptoms associated with the infection at check in, such passengers will be isolated from the others. This will be followed with passenger interviews and tests conducted by the health authorities in order to determine the possible cause(s) of the symptoms. In the event that there is any doubt regarding the medical condition of any suspected passenger, SAA may elect to deny such passenger/s to board its aircraft.
In cases where passengers develop symptoms after the aircraft has commenced its flight, the crew on board will initiate specific procedures that include isolating such passengers from others on board the aircraft. This will eliminate possible physical interaction of affected passengers with the rest of the passengers. The virus is not airborne and no transmission may occur due to air circulation in the cabin. It is transmitted through infected bodily fluids of a sick passenger. Once isolated, such passengers may not present a risk to fellow passengers as the Ebola virus is not transmitted in the air, but through body fluids such as blood and saliva among others.
Each aircraft has been equipped with special protective gear for crew on board to wear and to enable them to respond to any passengers suspected of having been infected, or displaying the listed symptoms that include sweating, nose bleeding or vomiting. There is also a special biohazard waste disposal kit intended for the safe disposal of waste.
SAA flies to five destinations in West Africa, namely Abidjan (Ivory Coast); Accra (Ghana); Cotonou (Benin); Dakar (Senegal) and Lagos (Nigeria). There is no travel ban to any of these destinations as a result of the outbreak of the virus in that region.
The airline remains committed to ensuring the enforcement of international health protocols associated with air transport.
SAA will remain in communication with its local health authorities and will monitor the situation on a continuous basis. This will enable the airline to constantly do risk assessment and review its decisions should there be developments that warrant such a review.
SAA would like to urge everyone travelling to the West African region to take the necessary precaution and be vigilant.

Too bad. I expect severe bilateral relationship between Kenya and the two affected countries. They might recall their envoys if they have offices here.

Kenya stopping flights doesn't stop Ebola, it punishes the shilling to above 100 to the $ before threatening to close down the airline. SAA and ET must be happy to handle African pax. Sad Sad Sad Sad indeed.

Such a weighty decision by the gaament ought to be followed by suspension of trading of the affected shares by CMA.

Guys Unfortunately it is another rejected take off. The destination also changes to JKF or the Boeing Field

Prophet, pole. I believe you can cast out the devil in KQ shares. If not, you better eject. Don't go kamakize style, you will be missed, as they have said. But I am also in the plane...
