Kenya Airways will maintain flights to and from the West Africa region that has been hit by an Ebola outbreak, as the government prepares to send two doctors on a fact-finding mission to Liberia. good move... decide if the controls in place work for you or not.. don't do things because others are doing it. utajikuta ukitembea mguu tupu sababu everyone around you anatembea mguu tupu na hawajui kwanini wanatembea mguu tupu.

The problem in Kenya is group think, mass hysteria and emotional decision-making. Good decision by KQ. If you follow this banning call to its logical conclusion, no one will get out of their house for fear of catching drug resistant TB.
All my friends are heathens, take it slow. Wait for them to ask you who you know. Please don't make any sudden moves.

President Kenyatta,"We should not shun our friends in West Africa, Ebola is there but we will conquer. We will defeat it. We do not have to abandon them" The President has urged the World not to shun the people of West Africa.

@maka... I wrote this somewhere
Quote:
we all know about the facts of the disease - right? the reason this disease spread in a period of 6 months is because people did not know that it was there and/or refused that it existed! when the rest of the world did not care about (prior to dramatisation by CNN and American Media...) - it never escaped these 3 countries - sio? during that time it had killed many many people! but as soon as Patrick Sawyer (who went burying the sister an ebola patient) got on board the plane to US after attending the funeral of the sister who died of it - it became an international issue. He collapsed and the medics that treated him are now in problem (he did not have a poster on his head saying 'EBOLA PATIENT') Now that facts are available on ground... i.e. ground 0 where the disease is happening - people are not casual about it as they were in the beginning... people are bringing forward their sick and everyone is alert - no travelling to the cities e.t.c. now that we have surveillance in place at the airports and fearful air cabin crew, now that we have a state of health emergency in 3 countries and all this media coverage that people know mtu akitapika hivi u ran like hell - saa hii ndio itakuja kenya? i ende kibera?

Imagine what would happen if KQ stops flights to these countries to prevent the spread on moral grounds. By bad luck, a case is reported in Kenya. They would then have to stop all flights out of Kenya to prevent a further spread. Looks like a rock and hard place.
 It’s what you learn after you think you know it all that counts.

Ebola virus is not endemic in Kenya fear not Endemism is the ecological state of a species being unique to a defined geographic location, such as an island, nation, country or other defined zone, or habitat type; organisms that are indigenous to a place are not endemic to it if they are also found elsewhere. The extreme opposite of endemism is cosmopolitan distribution . Another term for a species that is endemic, is precinctive – which applies to species (and subspecific categories) that are restricted to a defined geographical area. Etymology The word endemic entered the English language in the 17th century. It comes from the New Latin word endēmicus, which is the latinisation of the Greek word endēmos, meaning "native." Endēmos is formed of the words en ,
