@ All,I wish to agree in principle (not method or tone) with the prof. We need to always see every one of our human actions from the Cause-Consequense perspective,whether one is learned or semi-illiterate.

Why should I have kids,which even in the immediate circumstances,I know I can not take care of...and then later start crying serikali this,serikali that? I watched a HIV positive relative who was even advancing into the wasting stage marry not one additional but two wives,had kids with all of them (dead first wife's 4 kids notwishstanding) and even as he was being buried,one of his wives was pregnant. Mind you,the guy refused to enrol into ART. Before his death,I TRULLY wished he would actually waste away faster to save perhaps more women from infection and to save his future kids from suffering. All the women he married had and still have no source of sustainable livelihood and are unable to work on their farms to even produce food for consumption alone. What do you call a man like that.....? What do you call a man whos sells all his land and then migrates into a forest referring to himself as squarter or landless? What do yo call a man who takes along his 8 year old son into a fishing boat when he should be in school -and in the era of FPE? -Later he will be complaning of how his children are unable to get jobs.

I agree the government is supposed to make the environment conducive for all to eke if not make a living but the question of basic needs goes to the individual. You have no business having unprotected sex if you cannot take care of even a day old infant. And condoms are freely provided by the state.

But there is also the issue of life being unpredictable...this is where people need to help e.g orphans,times of natural calamities e.g drought e.t.c. I really simpathise with the pastoralist communities whose only economic activity is keeping animals. when drought wipes out the herds,there is absolutely no recourse and that's why some of them stage violent cattle raids to restock. What if the state did as simple as open up some of these places with as much as a all weather road to spur commerce to help diversify the livelihoods?

I am not saying there is equity in Kenya. Actually the contrary is true and we need to work on that like yesterday. But we need individual philosophy of being resposnible for every of our action to drive us.

The responsibility is squarely on gava but all MPIGS care about is gorging thie already distended stomachs! SHAME ON THEM!

nothing of the sort the cerelac i saw was in shops ...lots of hard lessons
i learnt the hard way from mistakes i made .. circumsatances may be bad but we see many successful people who refused to blame others esp the politcal class who feel nothing for the common people

what will it help those affected in Nyeri to blame Kibaki or the govt if i may ask ??? it just paralyses them with hate ...
