Nakumatt opened a a new branch in Dar es salaam a week ago at the largest mall in Tanzania, Mlimani City.
went shopping there yesterday, and the Shahs must be smiling ear to ear. Customers had flooded that place, not sure if it coz of id il fitr.
Experience:
-It looks a bit small....could be bbecause of my incessant comparing with Nairobi.
-Some customers were posing to take photos on the shelves and found it very amusing.
Ladies posing on detergent and toiletries rows for photos.
-the wahindis were also there with smartphones taking photos of products...could have been suppliers supervising display of their products
-couldn't get Suede cleaner.
-They give back change, including coins. (The other supermarket (GAME) doesn't give back change if it is coins, no sweets either like Nairobi, call that Darobbery)
-There are security guys at the door cross checking your receipt with the purchases. Find it tedious. But I found not less that 6 children who had pocketed icecream and snacks...
. should have seen their faces, very innocent 'thugs' on the making.
Proceeded to the GAME supermarket to get the suede cleaner....The luggage section was full with Nakumatt shopping bags...not much traffic there though...and couldn't get suede cleaner there either.
If it was listed it would be time to buy. Looks like it will do well in Tanzania
