before answering your question let me define/redefine a couple of things by asking a couple of questions and then addressing the subject matter
1. democracy is will of the many. where is this will applicable? it's over stuff that the many own i.e. public property e.t.c. does democracy dictate what is to happen/criteria or otherwise over private property/resources?
2. are leaders elected, selected? who do we elect in kenya - leaders or representatives?
In the way I understand this whole thing - Obama has the right to select whomever based on whatever criteria he choses to attend his conferences. this selection is based on his criteria! if kenyan public funds were used - we would have a locus standi in this matter but as things stand. hakuna shillingi ya umma ilitumika kwa hivyo umma haina 'locusi standiii'.
Secondly, the crux of the mystery of our failure is our over concern and hypersensitivity with politics. someone switched the term 'mjumbe' and replaced it with 'kiongozi'... national assembly REPRESENTATIVES, county assemby REPRESENTATIVES, women REPRESENTATIVES to the national assembly and County REPRESENTATIVE to the Senate suddenly became 'leaders'. people who should take our 'ujumbe' to those houses became our 'viongozi'. Is a father democratically elected? should a prefect be democratically elected? should student REPRESENTATIVES be democratically elected? should managers, ceos and other 'executive' positions be democratically elected? it is my belief that we as a society have put the cart before the horse when it comes to REPRESENTATION.
