[quote=ecstacy]IS militants have seized a monastery in northern Iraq, kicking out its Christian monks as well as Christian residents of Mosul.

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL/ISIS) insurgents stormed the ancient Mar Benham monastery in the Christian town of Qaraqosh Sunday, near the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, which was overrun by ISIS on 10 June.

Mar Benham is a 4th century monastery run by the Syriac Catholic church.

A member of the Syriac clergy said the monks pleaded to be allowed to save some of the monastery’s relics but the ISIS fighters refused and ordered them to leave on foot with only the clothes on their back.

“You have no place here anymore, you have to leave immediately,” one of the militants told the monks, according to the clergyman.

The monks then walked several kilometers along a road and were eventually picked up by Kurdish Peshmerga fighters who drove them to Qaraqosh, AFP reported Monday.

Picture this, that geography was the birthplace of Christianity. It was cleansed of it by militants over the centuries and to expect they will cease now is vain.

History shows what kind of guys they are.

this video shows the Islamic State (aka ISIL) expel all Mosul Christians and grabs their property after setting an ultimatum. Young and old, none spared

The latest and most special dedication from ISIS/IS to @Alphadoti.

Mandugu wako digital from the hijra manenoz fighting the Kuffar and tawaghit are calling and asking:

"Are your wives and children the reason that you are prevented from Jihad?" 2:15min

"Are your homes, businesses and wealth more beloved to you than Allah, His Messenger and Jihad in His path?" 2:20min

Alphadoti, what is stopping you?

ex-President's Bush 'axis of evil' may be US best bet!

I told you the Shiites would unite with the Americans and Israel against "terror"... Prophecy is coming true!

ISIS is what emerged after Al Qaeda in Iraq was crushed!

I wonder what will emerge next if ISIS is crushed! Pray

The people living in areas under ISIS seem to love them despite their "brutality" as portrayed by the Western media

@guru since we know Al Qaeda and Taliban was created by the US, is ISIS also a creation of US too?

@Alph as you wallow in conspiracy theories about America it looks like the black flags from KHORASAN are now fully upon us!

Maybe the awaited one is almost here...

@guru wacha matusi sister, but I agree with you that the Gog and Magog are already here... The hadith of the prophet (s.a.w) says, the Juj and majuj (Gog and Magog) will drink the water on its way empty!!!

@ecstacy, I understand you my brother. I will tell you today my stand on this.

That there is a greater Jihad than that.

You may think, or you've been told that "fighting the unbelievers in the battle" is the greatest Jihad. No! That is wrong!

The prophet (s.a.w) said that war against unbelievers is lesser jihad.
The greatest Jihad is battle of your own soul, fight evil within yourself.

So who is the true warrior?
Will give the answer by giving an example. The prophet was fighting an unbeliever in a battle and he had an upper hand. Just as he was about to strike, the unbeliever spat at him, and the prophet threw away his sword and refused to kill him. The question is why?

Ali (r.a) said when the man spat at the prophet, the prophet became angry and he was no longer fighting for Allah but to avenge his own pride. He knew that if he killed that unbeliever out of anger, rather that out of desire for justice. He would be a murderer in the eyes of Allah and Judgement Day.

That is true warrior

Alphdoti,

Funny you should give that hadithi. In that particular video, at 3.53 the speaker says "Where is your anger when the rule of Allah is mocked and his sharia is debased? Do you not find motivation to wage jihad in the path of Allah?"

What can you tell this man, Alphdoti? Him and his group and his friends are fake warriors, murderers? Please remind him of the hot water.

Alphdoti, help him, please.

I will say that the greatest threat to Islam today is our hearts.

It is not American aggression in the Middles East, or Zionist occupation of Palestine! These are merely symptoms, not the disease.

Instead of allowing Islam to transform us, some Muslims are trying to transform Islam to serve their political agenda. They are using the label Islam to kill, murder, innocent people. Something that the prophet would never condone.

I will tell all Muslims to remember Quran says in sura 13:11
"...Verily never will Allah change the condition of a people until they change what is within themselves."

How can we end the bad things people are doing, e.g. oppression of the Muslims by resorting into even worst behaviours? If our spiritual and our moral conditions worsens, how can we expect God to improve our economic and our political conditions? This is the fallacy of self styled jihadists who murders innocent civilians.

And for you @muriel, as I told you before, remember that there are many lies being spread around, people are being told lies about Islam. This is done by critics who spread false teachings, by taking verses from the Quran out of context, corrupting it. For example the verse about an eye for an eye, saying civilians are killed, we have the right to do the same. No!

As I mentioned before, in the Quran Allah permits retaliation only against the guilty party, not against innocent.

Quran says in sura 53:38
"no soul can bear the burden of another;"

One can say Quran also says "kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out of places they drove you out, for persecution is worse than killing"

But there is a problem there, the first part of that verse is forgotten where it says
"... fight in God's cause against those who fight you. But do not commit aggression. God does not love aggression"

There are many who are seeking God, but instead end up following the devil.

@muriel ati "haste"? To go where? You take me like the nursery school kid who is told, go! go! beat that boy! Look! He says you're weak, you can't beat him! Go! Show that you're strong! Shame on you Shame on you

You need to be realistic, okay?

You should understand that there have been more than enough groups of extremists exploiting Islam for their personal and political gain. Talk of Al Qaeda, Taliban, Boko Haram.

I agree with you that, this is an excellent opportunity to come out with a unified voice, the Muslims, to condemn vices and other ludicrous claims.

To me, I cannot simply stay silent about such matters.

At the very least I can lend my words to protect the name of Islam.

That there is a greater Jihad than that.
