If this was Saudi Arabia, the hacker would be sentenced to 10 years in jail and a KShs 2.3m fine. He's already been in 2 years, and court has upheld sentence on appeal.

I think TOR will only anonymize your Internet browsing. but anyone wants to hack your emails will, si you just use stuff like honeypot ama change passwords everyweek or better still everyday.

ahem....Wordpress is safer than anything out there.

Let's stop blaming technology. The people in charge of these accounts are to blame.

I mean how does someone hack your email account if you aren't busy clicking on porn links and other links sent to you for free stuff from Nigeria?

Stop educating them on using iPhones and iPads when they can't get the elementary stuff of keeping passwords safe and stop downloading every torrent, every free ebook, everything they find on the internet.

This is really shameful and someone should be fired. Oooops that will never happen. Instead now they will tell everyone to change their passwords forgetting that they now need to lock the door to their barn.

This hacking of key government online accounts (such as the recent one)
may be more as a result of "physical" planting of spy software on
targeted devices(that eventually harvests data input on devices - e.g. passwords)
than it is a strictly online "brutal force" break-in.

All it takes is about 30sec with your device (connected smartphone/laptop/PC)...

Beside good point made by Alma, I hope they include that hypothesis on the table and reinforce limitations on access of government devices.

you guys are kama kawaida overthinking this thing! my theory is that these guys are just incompetent! password: 'password', phishing - clicking emails from 'twitter'. you would be surprised on how effective social engineering is with people like this.

Yep those laws....We now have people being charged criminally for saying someone conned them when it happens to be true. All because of cyberterrorism....Do guys even understand what that word means?

I'm very sure right now there are some "high level" meetings on catching the guy who hacked them. Rather than teaching their "cyber experts" how not to go to porn sites.

As we all know , the weakest link in all systems is the user , social engineering usually works very well, besides people need to learn how to lock their PC anytime they step away from it, you never know who is watching.
