Registering a Co-operative and legal implications

Hi all, We have formed a group for investment purposes(mainly real estate)which is yet to be registered and wish to register it as a SACCO because we think it will mean fewer tax implications. What is the minimum number of members we need to have in order to register one? What are the pros and cons of forming a SACCO? What is the procedure for registering such in Kenya? Thanks

You have to visit the commissioner of cooperatives to get exact information. While deposit taking SACCOs are regulated by SASRA, the rest are supervised by the commissioner of cooperatives.
