So Cord have told us that we will have a referendum, but have not given us referendum question yet? This is like putting the cart before the horse and pushing the issue down our throat, let me explain...
Since referendum is a very expensive affair, shouldn’t Cord have told us what the question is first so we determine if (1) there are other mechanisms available to solve the issue (2) if the issue really needs to go for referendum, and if it does, if we could combine with next general election. This means they are pushing referendum down our throats. However we in wazua republic already ‘exposed’ the real reason why aliar is advocating for referendum – he remembers 2005 referendum with nostalgia, that’s where he gained momentum to take on Kibaki in 2007, and he hopes to repeat the same ‘feat’ ahead of 2017…So the foot soldiers have been mandated to ensure there is referendum come rain come sunshine. I bet the foot soldiers are having a rough time coming up with ‘proper’ referendum question. Which is why the whole issue is mired in confusion galore - due to lack of full disclosure even amongst Cord. Cord MPs and governors are in greater dilemma. For one they do not really understand (and quite justified so) why their supremo is pushing for referendum, yet they will be required to ‘fund’ collection of signatures and entire process!! This whole referendum debate is not necessary and can only distract us as country. Let us hope we can start a sober discussion on the issue here in wazua republic then (as always) take the resolutions to the rest of the kenyan republic. What say you??
