Did the rally fail?? I bet it depends on the aims of this sabasaba

Was it clear what sabasaba was aiming to achieve? NO. Some were saying Uhuru Must Go, Rao was saying watanyolewa bila maji, comparing Uhuru's refusal to dialogue with Mobutu's refusal to dialogue with Kabila Snr in the 90s.

Then 7/7 was touted as the DAY that the people would be liberated(and as Wet said, from 2 tribes). It sounded like a one day event. The ultimatums were out, the countdown was there...

No wonder CORD supporters on social media seemed to believe that 7/7 would end with their man as the main man in state house!

Then at some point the tone changed from Raila. He wasn't interested in taking over govt but just talks. Some of those talks were supposed to be privately between Raila and Uhuru.

Some real bad thing was to happen to Uhuru and/or Jubilee if this dialogue did not take place. At least that was what implied!

Then yesterday came. Many were fearful. I was fearful too. They whipped up emotions then said that since Uhuru had refused to talk to them, they would speak to Uhuru.

I wonder how "the people" are feeling now. Raila failed to communicate where he was taking them!

At some point, he said they were going round in rallies to consult the people on what they want. 7/7 was supposed to be the culmination. I doubt they asked the people for their opinions there on the points. Neither did they ask the people for the way forward after sabasaba as Raila had promised.

What was it aimed at achieving? Who knows? Someone told me that even Raila's closest lieutenants had no idea. I tend to believe it.

And I think it was aimed at keeping Raila relevant. This it did perfectly. His name is still on your lips, trending etc

But no, there was no holiday. That was fear of goons, violence, looting and death that kept people away from normal business yesterday in Nairobi and Kisumo

mimi nilikuwa nashangaa sana by the noise... I was thinking to myself
"what is all this tension all about?" people on social media were shouting JUSTICE!! We want JUSTICE!!
I thought to myself.... yani these people are serious? I knew that the worst that can happen would be localized to certain areas in the country. My biggest worry was that there would be some underhand movement in RV (based on just fears rather than facts). I knew the only place that can bring this country to a stand still is Rift Valley - everything else as @Alph used this statement yesterday "ni kama moto ya gazetti - flares up and rapidly dies leaving nothing but ashes" Rift Valley on the other hand is like COAL FIRE... it can take months to quell (for those who don't know mimi ni mkaazi wa Nakuru and I have seen it many many times over). I had nothing to real to fear about any other place.

@Tebes, maybe. Maybe it's not yet over as they said.

Mpaka leo when I woke up the first thing was to check news if anything had happened overnight. scary times.

That cartoon reminds me of a story I heard juzi from I think Koigi.

A man rode with his horse to a bar and tied it outside the bar.

Then he had his drinks, paid, and rose to leave but found his horse missing.

Coming back fuming, he shouted: "I give you 20 minutes to find my horse and bring it back or else I will do what I did in California last year!!"

And he sat for more drinks

After 10 minutes the bar manager told him they had found his horse.

So the guy stood to leave and the manager asked: "Sir, we found the horse, but what did you do in California last year?"

The guy answered "I walked home after someone stole my horse"

I don't speak for Ole Dengu and Uhuru and so forget Ole Dengu and President in my explanations. my reading on Lamu is that it's a land issue that has been brewing for a while [my brothers think they are (or are perceived to be thinking that they are) cleverer than locals] and a local MRC type group with possible support from the rag tag group Al Shabab has taken to itself to return lands to the owners. We may not be dealing with Al shabab directly or with MRC but rather a new group. p.s. sio wasapere tu wanangolewa but also other 'christians'. Al Shababu hana organising power kama hiyo.
