It is appalling..indeed weird…that aliar is insisting that meeting with president for dialogue is a matter of life and death, yet under the new constitution, PORK cannot implement much unless it is anchored in act of parliament/constitution? The president is just a part of the executive, which is just but one of the three arms of government. So even if dialogue happens under what law will the president implement the same? Why not go to parliament directly? Whoever is insincere in this whole debate will end up with a lot of egg on their face, but maybe that’s how things were meant to be.
But we know – only too well- their main aim is to distract everyone so Uhuruto do not achieve anything in the runner up to 2017….Can anyone be more insincere / unpatriotic?????

Raila is fondly remembering the good ol’ days of the Annan peace brokering sessions.

Yes, it’s true that the PORK can’t do much according to the constitution. But recall during the Annan sessions, Kibaki agreed to implement constitutional changes to accommodate Raila's demands and voila, PNU in parliament followed through by voting for the amendments.

Raila wants the same i.e. dialogue with Uhuru, agree on certain amendments, and Uhuru then orders his people in the national assembly to pass such and such laws whenever they are tabled. Raila will also quickly get his people to do the same. Ergo, the amendments will pass quicker than the MP's salary increments.

That’s plausible; you must be an insider or recent defector to know so accurately! That said, we have learnt from history and I do not think this mischief will see light of day, unless (God forbid) PSV (Post 7/7 Violence) erupts to the same scale as PEV!
Going forward, a more possible scenario is that this debate will soon die a natural death, aliar will hibernate locally or abroad for few months and then (sadly) he will come up with some new accusations. This might (sadly) end up being the order of the day till 2017, unless there is deliberate change of character (NB- this character emanates from subconscious mind, something aliar cannot change in a day even if he wanted). More sadly, he carries with him a sizeable chunk of the populace though numbers are dwindling fast. Talk of the blind leading the blind….though some kod politicians have admitted they are just keeping in the bandwagon to avoid backlash…

Very plausible, and you have painted the picture quite well.

Guys allowing an old man to carry their brains on their behalf is a rather sad story.
.

This reminds me of Wets telling UK that heeding Moi's word is akin to following advise of an old man. Babu must be reminded that he is old. Too old to be taken seriously.

Pls tell us, to be forewarned is to be forearmed.
However I can guess what happened today- Cord must have spent the whole day behind closed doors strategizing what to do next, now that DPORK reported the government will facilitate their 7/7 rally and even provide security. The remaining week will be a very long one since hate speech has been gagged. However, if all fails, as sure it will, do not rule out desperate measures, Govt machinery really need to stay awake and watch out for ‘rented’ terrorism…

Charles Nyachae weighs in
Quote:
Hello everybody! I have said on this page that my persona is not just defined as Chair of CIC. I am first a Kenyan who believes in democracy, the rule of law, constitutionalism and an orderly society. I acknowledge and defend the constitutional rights of every Kenyan to freely associate, assemble, speak and demonstrate, within the law.
I however ask two questions.
One, if we truly see a need as a people, to discuss urgent issues bedevelling our society, which are the issues that cannot be addressed through the institutions and structures that are established in the Constitution and which include representatives of the people. Which are these issues that can only be addressed through extra constitutional political processes. If we reject or ignore the constitutional structures, what stops every Kenyan defining their own form of engagement with the inevitable cacaphony, almost certainly leading to anarchy? Is that why Kenyans struggled for 20 years to get a Constitution? So we can side step it when convenient?
My second question, if we give a deadline to issues that we are saying are critically important to us as a nation, then what next?
I repeat these are my personal views as a concerned and patriotic Kenyan citizen.
Be blessed

What goes around, comes around. History repeats itself. Call for National Dialogue. Just that the church this time round seems not convinced.

They've heard you loud and clear. So here's the text of an SMS doing the rounds, calling for a prayer time tomorrow at Uhuru Park.

Inter Religious Council of Kenya invites you to a national day of prayer on Sat 5th July 2014 at Uhuru Park from 8.30am. Message from NCCK & approved by CCK

He is now hinting that the battle goes beyond 7/7, I think his original plan has been scuttled. However, let him go ahead and request 8/8. He can also request 9/9, 10/10, 11/11, 12/12 in advance, but very soon on one of these dates he will be meeting with himself alone in uhuru park.
