A good move in several aspects, especially putting otherwise idle resources and personnel to good use in these hard and dangerous times. Now wait for the political stink that will come out of it as fellows attempt to milk as much political juice as possible.....just like the critical issue of the former provincial administration.

All personnel and equipment under KWS, KFS, NYS now fa under the IG after the new directive by Ohuru!!!!

Great move in theory, but not productive in reality. Modern threats are not managed by throwing numbers at them, but engaging sharp minds instead, which is lacking in all the named formations and their heads. IG with due respect to him is a career policeman. Who knows any police officer who scored a B in o-levels? The best PORK would have done under these circumstances is place all these forces under NIS, where intelligent people can be found. BTW, after the JKIA fire, all formations at the airport were placed under the airport police commandant. What are the experiences and lessons learnt?

Do they operate under the same law?

@Mc, No. The purpose is more for purposes of resource sharing and joint command of the same when needed. Operational capacity and effectiveness is what is lacking in the current security setup.

Which makes sense. But they need to fix the law and be clear on when the IG may engage these other arms. There is a lot of potential for abuse and buck passing that must be taken care of. Still, the holder of the office of the IG needs to be sorted out. He's not doing a very good job with the resources he already has.

good move by the president, some companies have choppers which are under utilized which can come to the rescue of kenyans during cases like the mpeketoni in terms of transportation of security personnel . Removing the IG is not the panacea to security in kenya , the answer lies with all of us being patriotic and putting all security personnel on perfofmance contracts so that we can instill the culture of accountability........inluding teacherssmile smile
