Oh my @Ngong, weren't they neighbors killing each other in Lamu? There could be some apathy to this story, considering the 'one ethnic tribe' being targeted IS....

Kenya Insecurity - terrorism, poaching, rustling - are equal animals.

Clannism, cattle rustling etc are completely different from ethnic cleansing/terrorism. How would it have sounded if it was Al-shabaab who had carried out the attacks for instance? Too bad that both lead to the same result. I would compare it with one dying after a violent bar brawl while another is shot dead at home infront of his family. They will draw different kinds of human emotions.

But of course common sense wont prevail when discussing such matters. Hope the Govt is on top of things though.

Aah @simonkabz,

If my fellow Kenyan is threatened whether by a Somali terrorist, election violence, inter-clan flights, gangster or deadly thief; the outcome is always the same:

1. women and children suffer most
2. loss of personal or economic security
3. depravation leading to violent death

Can we enjoy peace if one of the forms of violence remains unchecked? Like a bad flu, it always spreads. Hence, why we elect and charge a government with responsibility for security.

Yesterday watching IG talk about this attack and the need for politicians from the area to write statements, i realised we are doomed! Guy looked like he doesnt care!

Every security officer wants to work in the cities, the formation of the police force is also wanting, its an individualistic force where a single officer just goes his way to make money and deals, with good organization and real police work insecurity can be managed since its very predictable in most areas, and also this idea of shooting every perceived criminal denies them alot of intelligence, scene of crime and a modern lab is the way forward
