Generally you get the lowest fares only if you plan your trip by booking early, say at least 3 weeks to several months. Try booking one day or some hours to the flight time at any airline and tell us how much you pay at any airline.
The price setters in the case of Jambo still have to factor in the price of their competition and the countervailing power of consumers. Whether it is PR or not? that sounds political to me.

Eldoret and Kisumu are currently delivering for Jambo. Mombasa has sufferred the insecurity thing.

Air Uganda has only 3 low capacity aircraft according to the site shared byb@AKenyan2014. Even if they were to give their entire business to KQ on the EBB-NBO route that may not translate to significant impact on bottomline for KQ
