But that list is suspect.Just confirms the rumours.

All it shows me is that Al Shabaab killed men in an area that just happened to be majority Kikyuyu nothing else!

There was even one Muslim Taita killed..

I also saw Luos, Kambas, Kisii and Unknown men on the list!

And that was the intention

I am not blaming the local police here because in my own hometown Eldoret, there are probably less than 500 police men all with crude weapons so that town probably had less than 30 police with a few crude guns. 30 police cannot even fight with 10 Al-shabas with sub-machine guns, RPGs and explosives. Let's face it Uhuru state house spend Ksh 500M in cars last year alone; how much did we spend on police basic equipment; I don't mean the chopper Kimaiyo is using to fly around the country, i mean the equipments that goes to the local police stations to help the police force. Let's be honest we've negleted fundamental levers that build a peaceful sociaty as we seek to make the master comfortable then turn around and say the police didn't do anything? If I was a police man in that station, I'd run away too.

Stop some of these lies Mr Roll. Under Jubilee the Police have newer and more fleets. They have good weaponry! They are in fact VERY WELL trained.

You are right on their disposition and I add, deployment. Maybe 20 in a station, of which maybe 5 are on duty. Now throw in an AMBUSH! Maybe only 2 will escape with their guns! Now consider a determined and heavily armed militia, facing 2 rattled and thoroughly shocked cops!!

Reinforcement comes, a Km away they get jittery of an ambush......they can hear heavy gunfire, if at all you know the kind of sound 50 random guns would produce! It is night time. They are not the Army, and I know the Army would also hesitate, trying to weigh in the strength of the enemy. Firing dies down, the cops gain some confidence, roll in, in pitch darkness.....

That is how Mpeketoni happened. Given this particular circumstances, I doubt anybody could have done better.

I have specific concerns that contibuted to the success of the militia: Why was the threat not acted on early eough, why did the OCS lock up all the guns and why did he fail to escalate the alert state of his men? How informed were the County Security commitee? Any counter measures by the county commander? Had they been overwhelmed with daily threats mpaka wakazoea? Was the warning specific or too general to be effectively acted upon?

Please dont mention the KDF coz we chained their arms and legs with a faulty katiba.

Isn't it the same police with housing shortage and low salary?

Did Jubilee hire new police force or are they still the same force from Kibaki and Moi administration?

Did you say they have new equipments? Cars and gasoline? Haha!

My question, is it not a fact that the Kikuyus are the majority in the Mpeketoni?

Laughing out loudly Some people really refuse the obvious even when it's standing right infront of them, all this in a settlement scheme well past of other Kenyan villages on the way, Mpeketoni is of one dominant tribe, evidence with journalists themselves that police knew of the attack a few hours before it happened etc but noooo..debate galore

People don't get it. Al Shabaab tried sowing destructive religious division by attacking churches and christians it didn't work. They are now playing to the local tension associated with almost irreconcilable land and marginalization issues in Kenya to tie their agenda with that of 'native' communities at the border areas. A hybrid terror grouping on objective seems to have formed.

If the darn KDF could only be unleashed onto coordinates in the area and we extract info from hostiles hook or crook.[/quote
That could be the only plausible reason as to why Alshabaab attacked mpeketoni

If Obiero did it, Who Am I?

The chief plausible reason is that locals have joined alshabaab. Somebody had blogged this as a possibility in 2011!

Maybe they were right. That could have been an attack with 2 aims: fight against GoK and fukuza bara settlers
Laughing out loudly smile Applause d'oh! Sad Drool Liar Shame on you Pray
