What did I hear on Citizen news? That police were aware there will be an attack? That even the local security committee was briefed 3 days before? That there were some police that even warned some people not to go beyond certain points coz there was likelihood of attacks later at night? That the area police boss was unreachable on phone on that night? That earlier in the day he had ordered his boys to put all weapons in the armoury?

Did I hear right ama naota?

That has been known since Monday. That is why senior police command there are being charged with abdication of duty.

By the way, how do you track someone using a twitter account unless that fellow is one silly fool. Actually very silly coz twitter is a stickler for privacy.

You don't have to believe anyone. Each side has some part truth and part lies. What you need to do is create peace, love & unity between you and your neighbors. That is what matters. Deep down, whether Muslim,Luo,Kiuk,Pokomo,Taita,Kuria...DNA is the same. And by & large, your efforts determine most results in your life. Not who becomes president.

this is really really sad.. even a list of names have been shared to show 'we are right'?
just read this on facebook
Quote:

Let me dissect for you the chronology of 'Rwanda in the making'... When the first canon is fired, you will celebrate and bay for 'their' blo od. Reports will start trickling in that some enemies have been killed in Coast, Rift Valley and the shanties in Nairobi, this will turn your celebration into... a frenzy. 4 days later, the mood will change, no longer getting the basic provisions such as food, your celebration will be cut short to attend to more urgent matters, that is, fending for yourself. 2 weeks down the line, when your energy levels have ebbed to the lowest, reports will reach you that your enemy has regrouped and is coming for your neck and that of your loved ones. You will now abandon the quest for food to that of saving your own life. International news media will show you, and your kin, carrying mattresses heading to a safe haven, most likely a church. You will reach the church and much to your horror, find thousands of people, many from your perceived enemy tribe also camped there, fighting for the little provisions donated by the UN. That night it will rain heavily and exposed, hungry, scared and nursing a deep machete wound on your most loved one's forehead, the slow realities of 'Rwanda in the making' will start sinking in. If you are still surviving one month down the line, 30kgs down from your usual weight, you will start wondering who is fighting who, since the camp is cosmopolitan and you are all fighting for basic survival not caring who comes from which tribe. But that's just the beginning. The next day, your camp will be raided, 5 of your loved ones will be slaughtered and you will be lucky to escape with a bullet wound on your right leg. UN will now heap you into lorries and transfer you to another camp. In excruciating pain and feverish from your infected leg, the second reality of war will hit you: what the hell is the fight all about? You will die 3 days later, from neglect really since people around you are so used to seeing others die to bother about your feeble groans from your leaking tent. 4 months later, corpses, including yours, will be buried in a mass grave as the lieutenants that started the war sit at a table in some hotel in Kampala to craft another 'power-sharing' deal. There will be relative calm as the vultures enjoy the spoils of war, the politicians will be back to their cosy offices... My point is, when the drums of war are sounded, everyone is a theoretical winner but the reality is so different a few months later. What's more, war does not guarantee equality, it dehumanizes and traumatizes people. Every little thing you've worked for goes... I will leave you with this, tribe is not your enemy, people that sit in ivory towers from all political divide and subdue you are. Change will come when you start demanding accountability right from your county upwards. Have a blessed and peaceful day." Let's join hands and use social media to preach peace

I am not blaming the local police here because in my own hometown Eldoret, there are probably less than 500 police men all with crude weapons so that town probably had less than 30 police with a few crude guns. 30 police cannot even fight with 10 Al-shabas with sub-machine guns, RPGs and explosives. Let's face it Uhuru state house spend Ksh 500M in cars last year alone; how much did we spend on police basic equipment; I don't mean the chopper Kimaiyo is using to fly around the country, i mean the equipments that goes to the local police stations to help the police force. Let's be honest we've negleted fundamental levers that build a peaceful sociaty as we seek to make the master comfortable then turn around and say the police didn't do anything? If I was a police man in that station, I'd run away too.

Neglence involved was by design it seems...intel provided could have detered and led to apprehension. The force is premised on a civilian basis and escalation to other militirised arms is on a case by case basis

Stop some of these lies Mr Roll. Under Jubilee the Police have newer and more fleets. They have good weaponry! They are in fact VERY WELL trained.

You are right on their disposition and I add, deployment. Maybe 20 in a station, of which maybe 5 are on duty. Now throw in an AMBUSH! Maybe only 2 will escape with their guns! Now consider a determined and heavily armed militia, facing 2 rattled and thoroughly shocked cops!!

Reinforcement comes, a Km away they get jittery of an ambush......they can hear heavy gunfire, if at all you know the kind of sound 50 random guns would produce! It is night time. They are not the Army, and I know the Army would also hesitate, trying to weigh in the strength of the enemy. Firing dies down, the cops gain some confidence, roll in, in pitch darkness.....

That is how Mpeketoni happened. Given this particular circumstances, I doubt anybody could have done better.

I have specific concerns that contibuted to the success of the militia: Why was the threat not acted on early eough, why did the OCS lock up all the guns and why did he fail to escalate the alert state of his men? How informed were the County Security commitee? Any counter measures by the county commander? Had they been overwhelmed with daily threats mpaka wakazoea? Was the warning specific or too general to be effectively acted upon?

Please dont mention the KDF coz we chained their arms and legs with a faulty katiba.
