I am not convinced RAO is working with these Islamist scum

But he's helping them by diverting attention to his storm

That said, I agree that rushing to point fingers on Raila by govt officials is making a bad situation worse

If Kenya burns the state will cease to exist..

Western Kenya will form a state stretching up to rift valley and Al Shabaab will make a play for North Eastern!

While you argue about Raila, Al Shabaab don't care about your tribe, just your religion!

Gunmen singled out non-Muslims in Kenya attack

NAIROBI, Kenya — The gunmen went door to door in the Kenyan coastal town, demanding to know if the men inside were Muslim and if they spoke Somali. If the extremists did not like the answers, they opened fire, witnesses said on Monday.

@l olest! is absolutely correct.

The statements from ODM have not helped anyone. The statements from gov't have not helped anyone.

When other countries are terrorized, the gov't and opposition stand shoulder to shoulder and tackle the issue head on.

Here we have a strange phenomenon who's position will be on page 100 on the quintessential encyclopedia of backward societies.

The security that was supposed to beef up security there is being heavily deployed in Kisumu , Kibera...Am glad to know the Govt thinks about our security so much. So peaceful but the tension!

In a way, though from another angle, you're reinforcing my point

Why should the security apparatus have to deal with Kibera and Kisumu?

Because there's another threat on that side!!

If someone is a patriot, they cannot bring unrest to a country that is already having enough enemies security wise

If I were Raila, I would call off the rallies to reduce unnecessary tensions they've created.

But as I've said, there's no justification for the security lapse esp in the painfully slow response to the attacks

Is this the best this government can do, Al Shabaab attacks Kenya, the goverment ends up accusing Raila thus dividing the country further along ethnic lines. Even worse was the demonstration at Dagoretti yesterday.........what you will achieve is that part of the country will now see Al Shabaab as an attractive alternative to the National government and who would have won, Al Shabaab!!!

I think @Lolest is just looking at the issue from a patriotic view, I think Raila should just reconsider the rallies at least for now, its the responsibility of the government to provide security and so far there have been serious failures - lakini even to suggest al-shabaab as an alternative is pushing it too far and just goes to show the divisions present.

When Al Shabaab attacks, you have nothing to tell the country but profile regions where to 'beef' up security then as a garment you are also pushing it too far!!!

My thoughts are, what you have just said is what pins our country down, I am not for the government on this, the failures in security in the recent past are just too big and all the blame lies on the government on this.

lakini hata kwa nyumba, when thugs attack in the middle of the night, you do not keep pointing out that your partner is weak, or they should have put in place stronger grills - ka mumekutwa you work together to protect your home then you can continue with your quarrel after saving your home.

but my disappointment comes in when you even suggest that al-shabab should or is an alternative.

States burn and rise again. If guys want to burn, do you think you can stop them? And why are you pretending the country became polarized yesterday? Kenyans have been divided and badly polarized since 2005, with very few changes.

Btw Why are so many people unable to see a bigger picture, past, recent past, present, near future, future? Watu hapa ni present present present they even forget yesterday!

I can never see them as an alternative but just telling you that the moment the government seem to be targetting specific people, it becomes the enemy of my enemy analogy, this will help nobody, perceptions are bad things now look at the following

Quote:
Nairobi County Police Commander Benson Githui remains firmly in charge after Westgate and numerous bomb explosions in his jurisdiction. Lamu County Commander Leonard Omolo is promptly fired after one attack.

Quote:
How security stuff works in Kenya:
A church attack in Mombasa leads to massive police deployment in, and ransacking of, Eastleigh - 450km away.
A terror attack in Lamu leads to a massive police deployment in Kibera - 700 km away - and Kisumu, 1000 km away.

Any surprise no one ever gets arrested or charged for these crimes?
