The govt did NOT respond to this attack sensibly. I gather that Mpeketoni is an isolated settlement. To the south and west, it's a jungle until Witu kms away. To the north, presumably the attackers access route, it's very sparsely populated until Hindi. To the east, it's the ocean suggesting that if the attack lasted hours, the govt would have surrounded Mpeketoni....

We all know who gains from such violence dont we?

Look at your responseShame on you Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you ...so this person who 'gains' stopped the government from responding to the distress call?

Even Mutahi Ngunyi agrees with me

Why would what Mutahi Ngunyi said have any weight. Is he a counter terrorism or security expert? People trying to blame RAO are just diverting attention from the real issue which is laxity in security systems.

Quote:
CORD STATEMENT ON MPEKETONI
Wish to remind Kenyans that it is the old KANU regime that was removed from power in 2002 that is back in full swing with an adult YK92 ruling ion the garb of a Jubilee coalition.
Incapable of understanding the plight of the Kenyan people, it focuses on imaginery threats to security by CORD while Al Shabaab kill our people and take over police stations. Its own police force has turned guns on innocent Kenyans enjoying the World Cup in Kisumu. How can such a regime claim legitimacy?
As we mourn those who lost their lives in last night viscious and merciless attack on innocent people in Mpeketoni in Lamu County by gunmen, we wish to state that it is the responsibility of the National government to ensure the safety of its citizens everywhere in the country. The ODM wishes those who were injured in the attack a quick recovery and calls on the government to move with speed and restore security in the area and other parts of the country faced with similar threats.

Hata wewe unajua vizuri that only happens in movies si hapa Kenya....police usually take hours to respond to a simple distress call hapa Nairobi sasa Mpeketoni ndio wataenda! IMO this attack was well planned and executed, i don't think for one moment that our Police officers stood a chance against the heavily armed gunmen!

Just a simple question: we have had so many attacks recently, so many dead, no arrests, no prosecutions, nothing.

Who is responsible for all these failings? Isn't there someone who is in charge of Security who isn't doing their job?

C'mon, this is an attack on a police station, you can't take hours to respond and then say good response only happens in movies?....Are you admitting that the security appratus in this country is so bad that it can't be redeemed?

For hours? And within those hours we also had KDF's spokesman tweeting about it? Couldnt the army have been called in to save lives and deal with issues of who allowed them on land without parliament approval later? Esp now that they thought it was Alshabaab? I dont think there is any reason whatsoever that can justify a village being under attack for hours with an army post just kms away.
