....seems like things on the ground are pretty bad. Let's spare a moment and pray for peace.

Kwani after the attack they disappeared in thin air? This being more of a village can not have complicated exits or hide-outs. Couldn't they have locked all exits and attack the attackers from air and land?

What has the govt said? I am getting no info at all from UK, Ruto or any other.

Boss, guess you have not been to Mpeketoni. Very, very easy to launch such an operation. Entry/Exit can be via land or sea lots of open spaces. I honestly don't understand why no Chopper was scrambled from Manda, not necessarily to fight the attackers but at least to rescue injured civilians.

There were around 50 attackers, heavily armed in three vehicles, and they were flying the Shabaab flag. They were shouting in Somali and shouting 'Allahu Akbar' ('God is Greatest'),"

Any body can shout Allahu Akbar...its not that hard to. Anybody can fly the flag...for whatever reasons. But the reality could be very different. Things are not always as they seem to be. That is why intelligence gathering is important. How comes there was this NIS guy who took time to record a politician who was "abusing" the PORK yet they could not sniff out the guys who were planning this?

Whoever did it, it's not understandable that Mpeketoni police did not receive reinforcements

That is the worst thing

Coz intelligence has never been 100%. Not even in the US

But response in our days of superior communication should be more swift

Answers please, GoK.

Last night, Chirchir had said there was air response. You mean it found nothing?

Quote:
CORD STATEMENT ON MPEKETONI
Wish to remind Kenyans that it is the old KANU regime that was removed from power in 2002 that is back in full swing with an adult YK92 ruling ion the garb of a Jubilee coalition.
Incapable of understanding the plight of the Kenyan people, it focuses on imaginery threats to security by CORD while Al Shabaab kill our people and take over police stations. Its own police force has turned guns on innocent Kenyans enjoying the World Cup in Kisumu. How can such a regime claim legitimacy?
As we mourn those who lost their lives in last night viscious and merciless attack on innocent people in Mpeketoni in Lamu County by gunmen, we wish to state that it is the responsibility of the National government to ensure the safety of its citizens everywhere in the country. The ODM wishes those who were injured in the attack a quick recovery and calls on the government to move with speed and restore security in the area and other parts of the country faced with similar threats.

Taz, Why would the "somali" attackers move from somalia to come kill innocent civilians in mpeketoni yet they could kill many more people in Kiunga, Ishakani, Milimani,Managai, kiwayu etc which are close to somali and would have made their escape easy?

Moreover the villages between Kiunga and Mukowe have no police stations and they are not easily accessible due to lack of mobile networks and poor roads.

All they needed to do was send 10 guys to each village and 1,000s of people would be dead
If Obiero did it, Who Am I?
