A good president needs to have a bipolar disorder. He needs to be two completely different personalities in one person. One personality is for winning elections: this one needs to be populist and be in tune with the pulse of the masses at any one time, the crowd demands different actions at different times and you must be in touch with what they want at any one time. This characteristic is best exemplified by Mike Mbuvi Sonko. The other personality is for governing; this one is cold, calculating, steadfast and does not give a damn about public sentiment. Determination to get whatever job you need to do watu wapende wasipende and doing everything it takes to get it done. It requires being organised and visionary. This characteristic is best exemplified by Mwai Kibaki.

Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly then Moi was a perfect bi-polar candidate.

Sonko is popular, can get things done,a hot catalyst. He's just not a 'leader' because he hates rules.

OAR deserves to be permanently in an opposition. He electrifies, makes headlines, cries wolf, and keeps everyone on edge. I just doubt his ability to deliver because he says things that excite us not challenge.

That a leader should be virtuous is important and good. But the criteria for a 'good President' must go beyond these virtues and focus on the political realities of the time. For example, it's possible to have a virtuous leader who can't adjust to the political times. Europe now is in contention; who should be President of the European Commission? What are the forces at play? You'll find global demands, and political intentions, State demands, interest groups, and all these are in pushing and shoving in a certain direction, and not so certain times, and with clear intentions, for clear problems.

What time is it in Kenya? What's supposed to be done? How can it be done and increase the political independence of the citizens?

A good President must be able to answer such questions satisfactorily to 'get an endorsement' despite his/her virtue.
