For me, one of Netherlands, England, Italy or Portugal will be a big name casualty, in the group stage no less...

How about a prediction league?

- Each correct prediction is 1 point.
- The prediction is not about goals, but simply about who will make it past each stage, the last prediction obviously being who will win the finals.
- At the end of each stage, we will create a table with a summary of all predictions.
- At the end of the tournament, we tally all predictions from all stages to find the top football predictors.

Starting with the group stage.

Pls post your group stage predictions for the Wazua prediction league.

Deadline: kick-off.

A prediction league is a good candidate for a separate thread. We should have multiple world cup threads. Its an event big enough to warrant multiple threads.

Mario Mandzukic will miss the World Cup opener against Brazil through suspension, he was sent-off in the second leg of the play-off against Iceland.

I'm a firm believer that the "sticky" wetaher conditions will greatly favour the South American teams despite the fact that most, if not all of their squads play in Europe. There's a way you're more accustomed to the weather of where you were born and raised up. My 2 cents.

Still, I can see a draw between Croatia and Brazil but I still fancy Brazil to top the group and Croatia to finish second.

I totally agree, Brazil will beat all the teams in their group. Their first real test will be in the round of 16.
