Now that we have established and concluded that SCOM has the worst data and customer service, I'd like to know: Can I still use the Safaricom labeled Huawei data device with an Airtel or Orange sim card or the device is sim-locked? I'd like to know whether I only need to buy a sim or the entire device. Thanks.

BBI will solve it

You can unlock the modem and give it a go. I did this back in 2009, it worked initially but after a month it stopped so I'm not sure if it is still possible to connect with an unlocked modem.

I have the one that looks like this image. Is it the one you're referring to?

Eish you guys a modem is just 1k, why unlock? You can have one for each operator, alternatively you can get an android phone and use it as a wifi spot with any simcard.
