Tried Mathari (Upper Muthaiga) Hospital? Life is like playing a violin solo in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.

I appreciate the rich varied professionals we have in wazua and invaluable advice that is shared.
My sibling completed form four last year and has come for help. In four two at a certain boarding school, he was introduced to COCAINE. since the school was "strict", they took small quantities mid week and weekends and could contain themselves ( a group of boys). after seco, the group continued to increase the dose and added other hard drugs but recently, some boys moved up and started injecting COCAINE. well, one missed artery and injected the dose to vein, went to coma and after two days, went to his maker. This made my sibling to realize the need for CHANGE and leave out the drug+company and hence the visit to make a confession. after much discussion, i learnt he has managed hangover and drug urges. apart from rehabilitation homes, any good professional counselor, physiachist, etc you may know? cocaine is water soluble. So it is often heated to vapour and smoked leading to an instant high. It is snorted because it is readily absorbed from mucous membranes. It can be injected SC or IM but this causes blood vessels to constrict slowing the rush. Cocaine use is becoming an epidemic! It is estimated that 1 in 2 Americans has experimented with cocaine. Detox is a combination of counseling, behavioral therapy and psychotherapy. Cocaine affects every organ in the body and since cocaine is often cut with other substances such as talc, heroin etc, a physician will be involved along with the psychiatrist. If one has to choose a drug to abuse, avoid cocaine, heroin and the other opioids. Stick to weed. Heroin/opioids have antidotes that can be used in rehab, cocaine doesn't. You inject drugs into a vein because it is nearer to the skin, veins carry deoxygenated bloods towards the heart therefore reducing the effects to organs since the drug is redistributed. Arterial injections are usually accidental (or negligent) and lead to severe pain, loss of limb function, gangrene or loss of the limb. There's that clinic hapo Chiromo called Chiromo Lane. "Occasionally I drop a tea cup to shatter on the floor. On purpose. I am not satisfied when it does not gather itself up again. Someday perhaps that cup will come together."

Word of Encouragement "Battling drug abuse for two decades, Gregory Isaacs eventually lost most of his teeth as his health began to decline. Battling back, the Jamaican singer kicked his habit and began recording again." Habari. If okay with a Biblical approach, talk to Benez And Hebron - Biblical Life Coaching (google them). It an intense one-on-one journey, includes devotions, outings, talent search, etc. In the mean-time ask your sibling listen to this. Now the pusher was away upon his ups and downs And men are like junkies all over town See the first man who settle down Surely gonna put him down

You're supposed to inject into veins, I assume you meant the opposite? From experience ama? si ni general knowledge In a place where thought is abandoned, freedom can become a curse.

Thanks to all. My sharing. Since the boy come clean, my search and action taken are i)On weekly basis, he meet a counselor ( to give advice) ii) on weekly basis, he meet a psychologist to unearth the underlying reasons behind drugs involvement and if found health wise affected, will be referred to a physiatrist iii) AA meeting on daily to meet other former addicts ( including those from rehabs) and who constantly share the experiences, ruins and agony of addiction in general and alcohol in particular and words of encouragement. Accompanied him once and realize the is more to life than meet the eye Thanks again and chapter closed

Just know that not all counselors have handled drug users...same for psychologists actually. This is why it is good to just go to a centre which deals specifically with drug rehab and they can prescribe what he needs based on a comprehensive assessment- only a professional can determine what he needs and at what intensity or interval- you can't do that because you do not know and it is better to err on the side of caution ( although for some reason, you don't want to deal with a rehab cenrte)Every user has an invidualised plan including outpatient sessions. check this place www.nairobi-place.org
