LAWS OF KENYA

KENYA DEFENCE FORCES ACT
No. 25 of 2012

8. Functions of the Defence Forces
(1) Pursuant to Article 241(3) of the Constitution, the Defence Forces—
(a) shall be responsible for the defence and protection of the
sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic;
(b) shall assist and co-operate with other authorities in situations of
emergency or disaster and report to the National Assembly
whenever deployed in such circumstances; and
(c) may be deployed to restore peace in any part of Kenya affected by
unrest or instability only with the approval of the National Assembly.

which of the three above have necessitated deployment.The training of a police officer is not same as the training of an army officer

This tells me the police have failed. Not very good news for the IG. You should see them on those skele motorbikes collecting bribes near Yaya Centre. Is there an equivalent of the US police Internal Affairs Dept. that one can report to.

BBI will solve it :)

Mwanainchi: The jubilee government has failed in security among other areas, too many terror attacks! Ole Lenku Must go!!

Government: We have limited resources, maybe we need to increase taxes to hire more into the police force to increase the police to citizen ratio and also give proper training to our forces

Mwanainchi: Whaaaaaat increase taxes? NEVER!! We are already overtaxed. Ole Lenku must go!

Government: So if we fire Ole lenku and replace him with another person the terror attacks will stop?

Government: (Deploys military to ease the insecurity)

Mwanainchi: Whaaaat? Are you guys serious? We don't need the military on our streets. They belong to barracks and should only come out during war! In fact i think Kenya is now turning into a military state. Kenya is a failed state now!! Jubilee has given up!!

Government: (Sighs) Well, we will do what we have to do to protect the citizens of kenya

Mwanainchi: It is illegal to use the military to ease the security situation in the country. We are a democracy not a military state!!!

as long as they dont become like pakistani soldiers... they are welcome..

I just hope its not the kind of "patrol" done by police. They shouldnt be Visble on the roads.

This has been in the oven since the last government. I see no problem if it is meant for:

- Isiolo and beyond (to Moyale),
- Thika and beyond (to Garissa, Wajir, Liboi),
- Kitale and beyond (to Lodwar, Lokichogio, Kakuma),
- Lamu and Beyond......

And should our towns descend into large scale violence, the government should immediately put them on a lockdown/curfew.

Mcreggae, why are you so worried with this development? What were you guys planning?? Sad Sad

Well said. The same people are the ones who keep crying that the military is idle in the barracks......eating ugali and resting under the trees smile

I saw that coming, for somebody who works with the military....you know this is not the right decision but of it's our people, we denfend whatever!!!!
