25% of 3 Billion is $750m and Dr. Dre was definitely not worth $0/= before the deal. In the last 3 years alone he made $275 million. Add that to his income from music. He's the one who "discovered" [signed] the likes of 50 cent, Eminem etc.

And don't forget that this is not the first non sales money they are making from the company. In 2012 Dr. Dre and Lovine bought out HTC for $150m to bring their combined stake to 75%. In 2013, they sold a minority stake to Carlyle Group for $500 with Dr. Dre pocketing $250m

when it came out that the deal meant him joining apple (was said at the board) liked the way guys were like '...he is not right for the apple board...his culture doesn't fit apple... some were of course using that due to their discomfort with all things urban and beyond.
